19 September 2023: Paul, Karl and Terese return to Ramsay Street

Back after Radio 2 in the Park

Scott returned after Radio 2 in the Park in Leicester and thanked listeners for the reaction to the weekend.

He played highlights and messages from fans who had travelled from across Britain and overseas.

One listener from Atlanta had known an extraordinary amount about the station and its presenters.

The Birthday Game: Daryl

Daryl from County Durham inspected and transported cars that had reached the end of lease agreements.

His main interest was civil aviation and plane spotting.

He regularly watched Jerry Dyer’s Big Jet TV and had been a member of the channel for several years.

Daryl’s first spin was Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger, written for Rocky III and number one in 1982.

He accepted it immediately.

His unused alternatives were Eric Prydz’s Call on Me and Shaggy’s Boombastic.

Daryl said he liked all three but was happy with his first choice.

Neighbours returns

Scott welcomed Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher and Rebekah Elmaloglou, who played Paul Robinson, Karl Kennedy and Terese Willis.

The soap had appeared to end after 37 years, culminating in an emotional finale featuring returning characters.

The cast had believed the production was genuinely over before the revival was announced.

Scott remembered an earlier Radio 2 reunion featuring Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Madge and Harold.

Back on Ramsay Street

The returning cast discussed the strange experience of saying goodbye and then walking back onto the familiar sets.

The revival introduced new characters and a new family while preserving long-running relationships.

Scott was amused that Mischa Barton, known for The O.C., had also arrived in Erinsborough.

Stefan Dennis remained central as Paul Robinson, one of the programme’s longest-serving characters.

Alan Fletcher returned as Dr Karl Kennedy and Rebekah Elmaloglou as Terese.

Handover

Scott handed over after previewing Dolly Parton’s appearance the following afternoon.
