The voting-bin finale

Scott crossed to Southampton for the final result of the city-centre bin that allowed pedestrians to vote for him or Craig David by depositing rubbish.

Despite Scott’s late campaign, Craig won by 442 pieces of rubbish to 404.

Scott brought the team into the studio to clap for the winner and accepted that he had at least performed better than during the earlier count.

Correspondent Lucy spoke to one woman who had placed rubbish in Scott’s side.

When asked whether she was a fan, she answered no.

Ange knows every word

Ange from Porthcawl proved that she knew every lyric to Wham!’s Young Guns (Go for It!).

She completed the performance without losing her place and was congratulated on her local Facebook group afterwards.

Scott added her to the programme’s growing group of listeners who could perform an entire song from memory.

The Birthday Game: Annie

Annie and her family had spent two weeks travelling across Japan, beginning in Tokyo and travelling as far as Nagasaki before returning.

Her first spin was The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine, number one in 1966.

Annie liked it but believed the second spin was usually the correct choice.

Her second song was Robyn’s With Every Heartbeat, which Scott and Jo Whiley had made Record of the Week at Radio 1 in 2007.

Despite having predicted she would choose spin two, Annie rejected it.

Her compulsory third song was Wet Wet Wet’s Love Is All Around, the enormous 1994 number one associated with Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Annie accepted the result.

The Lionesses reach the final

Listeners celebrated England reaching the Women’s World Cup final.

Messages arrived from journeys containing disappointed Australians and delighted England supporters.
