Jo Whiley recovers from Glastonbury
Jo Whiley joined Scott after returning from Worthy Farm.
She described the weekend as one of the strongest Glastonbury festivals she had covered, with performers including Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Rick Astley visibly overwhelmed by the audience response.
Jo admitted that her first meal after returning home had been Super Noodles at around 11.30pm.
Scott also challenged her over the state of her hotel sheets after a spray tan, while Jo insisted the colour had still been transferring several days later.
The Birthday Game: Lisa
Lisa from Manchester was celebrating her 41st birthday in Venice with her partner Gemma.
Every January, around ten friends held a planning meeting with laptops, diaries and alcohol and booked an entire year of birthday trips.
Because nobody reliably remembered the decisions the following morning, Lisa acted as minute-taker and circulated the confirmed bookings.
The bargain-flight method had previously taken the group to places including Bilbao and Zurich.
Lisa planned gelato, a gondola ride and Aperol spritzes.
Her first spin was Maroon 5’s Payphone, number one in 2012. Lisa rejected it.
The second was Charles Aznavour’s She, number one in 1974. She did not recognise it and chose to gamble again.
Her compulsory final song was McFly’s Obviously, number one in 2004.
Lisa accepted the early-2000s result, which fitted the era she had requested.
The woman who passed on attempt 960
Scott reported the story of Cha Sa-soon in South Korea, who finally secured a driving licence after 960 attempts.
She had first attempted the written examination in April 2005 and at one stage retook it five days a week.
The process reportedly cost more than £11,000.
Scott praised her persistence while joking that other road users in Seoul might still prefer to remain indoors.
A second-chance driving school
Producer Emilio had not yet passed his own test and investigated a driving centre in Poland offering an unusually high number of attempts.
The discussion encouraged listeners to admit how many tests they had needed.
One caller had passed on attempt 18 — one fewer than Ozzy Osbourne — while Scott remembered passing on his fourth attempt.
Handover
Scott handed over to Sara Cox after continuing to collect stories from nervous and persistent learner drivers.
