Scott began the week with the story of an accountant who wanted to see Taylor Swift badly enough to apply for a security job at the venue.
He was placed directly in front of the stage but was told by colleagues to calm down because he was singing too enthusiastically while supposed to be working.
Scott also reacted to Beyoncé fans reporting that programmes on the Renaissance tour merchandise stand cost £80.
He advised anybody who had bought one in the excitement of the concert to treat it like an expensive coffee-table book once they returned home.
Smart-speaker voices
A newly announced BBC Sounds feature allowed listeners to rewind live radio through a smart speaker.
Scott asked listeners to say: “Ask BBC Sounds to rewind to 2.22pm” so they could hear Bobby Pryor’s travel bulletin again.
The discussion quickly moved to the special voice people used when speaking to their devices.
Scott said Sam’s relaxed Welsh delivery often failed, while his own approach became increasingly clear, forceful and irritated.
Listeners sent voice notes ranging from exaggerated politeness to shouting at the device in frustration.
The Birthday Game: Emma
Emma from Didsbury turned 43.
Before working in marketing, she had spent several years as an opera singer and travelled internationally.
Her birthday celebrations included dinner, a visit to Bicester and an upcoming holiday in the Canary Islands.
Emma shared her birthday with Naomi Campbell, Katie Price, Novak Djokovic and Morrissey.
Her first spin was Wet Wet Wet’s cover of With a Little Help from My Friends. Emma rejected it because she wanted a stronger Monday-afternoon record.
The second was Boyzone’s cover of You Needed Me. She rejected that too.
Her compulsory final spin was New Edition’s Candy Girl, number one in 1983.
Emma recognised it immediately and was pleased with the result.
Ella Henderson’s earworm
Ella Henderson called the Music Police after becoming frustrated by a song she could not identify.
She remembered only the line: “I will do the laundry if you pay all the bills.”
Ella believed it came from something she had listened to while growing up but could not remember any more lyrics or the artist.
Scott handed the case to listeners and promised to return with the answer later in the week.
Ella also teased new music and said something significant would happen on 9 June.
