Lists for meeting friends
Scott heard from listeners who prepared agendas before social occasions so that important stories were not forgotten.
One man had written prompts on his hand before a first date in the mid-1980s, including reminders to offer a compliment, ask about the journey and find out where his date came from. The couple were still together.
Sam said her mother kept lists for their weekly telephone conversations, noting topics, opinions and ideas she wanted to discuss.
Nicola and her friend Laura had used social agendas for more than 15 years.
Their items were often deliberately vague, including one entry reading “man on bus — sofa”. They were not allowed to discuss anything on the list until food had been ordered, using only light conversation beforehand.
Scott planned to create a shared notes page before his own meeting with a friend.
The Birthday Game: Brad
Brad, a kitchen and bathroom fitter near Halifax, turned 46.
He supported Bradford City and planned a family meal near Hebden Bridge, where tourism had increased following Happy Valley.
Brad shared his birthday with Jane Seymour, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, Amber Riley and Galileo.
His first spin was Amen Corner’s If Paradise Is Half as Nice, number one in 1969. Brad rejected it because he wanted something closer to the early 1990s.
The second was Bart Simpson’s Do the Bartman.
The song had been rejected on the Birthday Game the previous week, causing outrage among listeners.
Because it was Matt Groening’s birthday, Brad accepted the song “out of respect” for the creator of The Simpsons.
Scott and listeners recalled watching the programme on BBC Two and, before that, seeing the characters in short segments on The Tracey Ullman Show.
A birthday for Bobby Pryor
Bobby Pryor was preparing to leave for a birthday road trip.
Scott and the team gave her a card, one of the show’s orange birthday balloons bearing Scott’s face and a Wiggles caterpillar cake.
Bobby said she felt blessed, although the balloon was the same prize normally posted to Birthday Game contestants.

Scott looked back at the previous afternoon’s reunion.
Nicky Chapman revealed that she had helped Simon Fuller and Nick Godwin form the original group.
She had also been involved in the S Club Juniors auditions.
Rylan had auditioned and still remembered the rejection in detail, whereas Nicky had no memory of seeing him.
One member of Scott’s team admitted submitting a video audition for S Club Juniors, dancing in the living room and performing their best Rachel Stevens impression, but never receiving an invitation to an in-person audition.
Scott promoted the extended S Club programme on BBC Sounds, which included additional conversation and an hour of their music.
Valentine’s aftermath
Single listeners described enjoying Valentine’s evening alone, with one eating a meal for one followed by a pizza simply because they could.
Scott also replayed a romantic flower display arranged by Marcus Rashford, which was interrupted by a dog determined to be included.
Handover
Scott handed over to Sara Cox after promising the answer to the next Music Police cases on Thursday.
