The result
Scott and his fiancé Sam had entered their decorated home in the village’s Most Magical Entrance category.
Their main competition was Laura, a florist who had won before.
Scott and Sam missed the online results ceremony because they were in the pub watching The Traitors, so Sarah from the Christmas committee called the programme with the result.
She built the tension “a bit like The X Factor” before announcing that Laura had won.
Scott and Sam finished second.
Scott congratulated Laura and invited her to have coffee when they next saw each other in the village.
Their prize was a voucher for a local Chinese takeaway for three people. The team suggested they invite Laura in the spirit of Christmas.
Laura responds
Laura sent a gracious victory message.
She congratulated Scott on second place, offered to help him win the following year and pointed out that she also provided wedding flowers.
Scott accepted the defeat and wished her a merry Christmas.
The Birthday Game: Carol Vorderman
Carol Vorderman joined a day before her Christmas Eve birthday.
She said she was still “61 and eleven-twelfths” but would turn 62 the following day.
Scott allowed the early appearance as a Christmas treat and asked the standard age, star-sign and celebrity-birthday questions.
Carol then faced three Christmas Eve number ones.
She rejected at least one major festive ballad, prompting Scott to play it later because he could not accept the decision.

The final programme before Christmas abandoned strict chronology and delivered a mixture of festive records.
Scott said the selection would be “a right mishmash” because it was impossible to choose a strong Christmas song from every individual year.

Jilly returned with final dinner advice, completing her accidental transformation from listener to festive food correspondent.
Handover
