22 August 2012: Truth or Dare with Nick Grimshaw, Sam and the Womp, and Innuendo Bingo with Fearne Cotton

A busy Wednesday breakfast with Nick Grimshaw playing an intense game of Truth or Dare before taking over the Breakfast Show in September, plus Sam and the Womp visit the studio to teach everyone how to properly “Womp” ahead of a potential number-one single.

Scott opens the show discussing his recent realisation that he can’t cook, sharing a disastrous attempt at tuna steaks where he confused teaspoons and tablespoons of spices, resulting in inedible heat. He’s decided to book cooking lessons before his flatmate moves out in two months.

The main event is Truth or Dare with incoming Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw, featuring three of his friends with embarrassing stories. Jack (a five-year-old friend) nearly reveals a story about Nick typing his phone number repeatedly into a card machine, thinking it was his PIN. American Amy shares a memorable tale of Nick jumping from a rickshaw while trying to impress an X-Factor contestant, breaking his foot, then performing “Crazy in Love” in a seven-inch heel at London Fashion Week the next day while on crutches. The third challenger, Max from Primero’s Hill, turns out to be a fictional setup—actually Kira from the office—so Nick makes the safe choice.

Sam and the Womp arrive to promote their track “One Ping,” with members Sam, Lady U (in a purple sparkly cat suit with feathered accessories), and multi-instrumentalist Aaron. They teach the studio—and listening audience—the proper “Womp” technique: hands facing inward to embrace the bass, then extending arms outward. The song is potentially number one this weekend.

The Search Engine Game with Smooth Talkin’ Dan follows, testing whether Chris and Matt can guess Google’s top autocomplete suggestions. Results include “Does Dappie have a fake ear?” and “Does Meghan Fox belly dance?”

The show ends with the first-ever Innuendo Bingo featuring Fearne Cotton, with hilarious moments from sporting commentary and television clips designed to make her laugh and spit out water.
