The discussion began after producer Ben’s meal left a strong smell in the Radio 2 office.
Listeners reported hard-boiled eggs, tuna, garlic-heavy leftovers, broccoli and Stilton soup and one particularly outrageous example involving haddock poached in milk inside the office microwave.
The haddock incident had even been reported to HR.
The Birthday Game: Richard
Richard from Somerset turned 50 and described himself as an AFOL: an adult fan of Lego.
His collection included Star Wars sets and a Back to the Future DeLorean, while he also enjoyed rebuilding sets into unofficial alternative designs.
Richard wanted 1980s music.
His first spin was the Wanted’s Glad You Came. He rejected it.
The second was Sonia’s You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You. Despite it scraping into his preferred decade, Richard decided it was not one of her best.
His compulsory final song was Ricky Martin’s Livin’ la Vida Loca, number one in 1999.
Richard considered it the strongest of the three and was pleased that the third-spin gamble worked.
