Lulu celebrates with Scott
Lulu joined the programme on her birthday and became the first celebrity to play the afternoon show’s new Birthday Game.
Scott went through the usual checks before inviting her to choose between three songs that had been number one on her birthday in different years.
Lulu continued the pattern established by the first contestants and allowed the spinner to reach its third and final selection.
She ended up with DJ Sammy’s version of Heaven and was pleased with the result.
Scott offered to send her a birthday balloon bearing his face. Lulu’s response made clear that this was not necessarily the most desirable celebrity gift she had ever received.
Speedmates returns
The workplace friendship game returned after Zoe Ball and Richie Anderson had established the format on Monday.
Scott continued inviting colleagues who spent large portions of their lives together to test whether daily familiarity translated into knowledge.
The game asked each pair questions about the other person before using a numerical tiebreak when required.
Love by fax
The programme explored the increasingly obsolete experience of sending personal messages by fax.
Grant admitted that he had used a fax machine for romantic communication.
Nancy had kept the faxes sent by the man who later became her husband, although she was reluctant to read many of them on air because of repeated references to her bottom.
The conversation prompted Scott to ask listeners which pieces of ageing technology they still used and refused to throw away.

Scott closed the penultimate programme of his first week by looking ahead to Friday’s revival of The Wonder Years.
