Theresa May’s conference cough dominated the afternoon
Scott and Chris were already feeling the effects of Freshers flu when Theresa May’s Conservative Party conference speech developed into a catalogue of interruptions.
Her persistent cough immediately became relatable radio material, particularly after both presenters had spent days complaining about feeling under the weather themselves.
Kem’s height was investigated
The previous day’s obsession with “Little Bit Leave It” had left one question unresolved.
Kem repeatedly claimed in the track that he was five foot 10, and Scott was suspicious because five foot 10 was exactly the kind of plausible-sounding height shorter men might give when they did not want to claim a full six feet.
The show therefore arranged for Kem to be measured rather than simply accepting the lyric.
The measurement reported back to the programme put him well short of the claim, at around five foot six, giving Scott and Chris another reason to replay the line.
Only one caller was really naked
The Naked Game also returned.
Three callers claimed they were speaking to Radio 1 completely nude and Scott and Chris had to work out which one was telling the truth by interrogating their explanations.
Victoria from North Wales was particularly convincing. She said she simply liked being naked and was getting ready at her dad’s house after celebrating passing her theory test the previous evening.
Her description of drinking coffee while surrounded by her father’s large radio-controlled model aircraft added exactly the sort of unnecessary detail that made the game harder to judge.
