Pearl enters the TARDIS
Pearl Mackie visited before her first full episode as Bill Potts. She had already discovered the intensity of Doctor Who knowledge after The One Show asked what powered the TARDIS and her improvised answer of “space engine oil” prompted correction from fans.
She described keeping the role secret and adjusting to the worldwide attention around the series.
A Who Game for the new companion
Pearl joined the Who Game, naming people and things that had largely disappeared from everyday conversation before everybody responded with an elongated “who?”
It gave her a gentler test than TARDIS mechanics and earned an enthusiastic “yas queen” from listeners.
