Ripped Rinder arrives on Strictly
Scott watches the Strictly Come Dancing launch and is startled by Judge Rinder’s dancing ability and previously concealed six-pack. Listeners begin using “Ripped Rinder”, while Scott’s former partner Joanne Clifton has moved on to a new celebrity and he insists he is completely relaxed about it.
Rinder says the launch feels like a glittery sports day where everybody wins, an atmosphere that tests his instinct for criticism. He is pleased with partner Oksana Platero, who wants to be called the Russian word for “goddess” and promises that good training will earn him the privilege of taking her shopping.
David Beck-ham enters the Den
Sarah uses Instant Dragons’ Den to pitch Deborah Meaden a range of premium sliced ham bearing David Beckham’s face. The idea grew from Billy Bear ham and could expand at Christmas into a Beckham family pack, with a different relative appearing on every slice.
Deborah quickly identifies it as a joke conceived by students over drinks. Sarah has no costings, investment request or permission from Beckham, and Deborah advises her not to waste her life pursuing him for the necessary rights. She formally rejects the idea while Sarah remains convinced that shoppers would enjoy eating David Beck-ham.
Alice investigates Scott’s searches
Alice Levine joins Real or No Real, where Scott learns that a user’s complete Google search history can be reviewed online. Chris has seen enough over Scott’s shoulder to understand his alarm, while Scott worries that the information could eventually escape into public view.
They also consider a Chinese artist said to have captured a pub ghost and displayed it in a Manchester gallery. Alice beats Scott by 20 points to 10, giving the week an appropriately strange beginning.
