A head made from chocolate
Scott and Chris presented from Radio 1’s Academy in Exeter, where workshops and question-and-answer sessions offered advice about careers in radio, television, film, music and fashion. Local makers had already turned Scott’s face into key rings and scanned his head for a life-size chocolate version due the following day.
The scan required him to hold his head still and look upwards for five minutes. He then added another familiar Big Weekend injury by hitting his forehead on the hotel tap while brushing his teeth, leaving a mark that threatened to become a bruise before the chocolate copy arrived.
Exeter Library Tennis
Students Charlotte and Kelly positioned themselves at opposite ends of the University of Exeter library. Their grunts escalated so quickly that the game became one of the longest and loudest editions of Library Tennis.
Disapproving looks from other students failed to end the rally. Scott eventually gave each player one final shot and declared a winner, allowing both to escape to a safe place. The highlights and slow-motion replay sounded even more uncomfortable, prompting one listener to say they needed new cringe glands.
Chris addresses the train
On the journey from London, Chris discovered the train’s public-address controls and asked Twitter whether he should embarrass Scott. More than 4,000 people voted, with 95% choosing yes.
After befriending train manager Jason, Chris announced that a celebrity passenger was travelling in Standard Class, described him as the clam from Strictly Come Dancing and Eastleigh’s favourite son, then revealed his precise seat. Other passengers approached for photographs while Scott sat with his head in his hands. Chris had arranged for the reaction to be filmed as well.
Tom Odell stays for Real or No Real
Tom Odell had performed “Magnetised” and a slowed-down cover of Mike Posner’s “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” in the Live Lounge. He stayed at the Academy to discuss creativity and play Real or No Real, winning by 30 points to Scott’s 20.
