A royal visit to Broadcasting House
Prince Charles and Camilla toured the BBC, where they encountered Radio 4’s impeccably formal announcer who had become known on the show as Posh Radio 4 Lady. Chris managed to appear in the background of a photograph, turning proximity into his own modest royal engagement.
Posh Radio 4 Lady later sent a dispatch about meeting the couple and extended an invitation to her villa. Scott and Chris imagined the heir to the throne receiving the same combination of careful diction and unexpected holiday hospitality that listeners already knew.
Enrique knows who Chris is
Enrique Iglesias arrived for Innuendo Bingo already familiar with his opponent. He had watched Chris’s interviews with Mila Kunis and Jennifer Aniston and recognised him before the game began. Chris immediately treated this as validation of the previous night’s television debut.
Enrique entered into the game without needing much explanation. The clips included an age-gap couple who said they “bang together”, relentless pounding on Radio 4, the plant Sarcococca hookeriana, Nigella Lawson putting one in the bottom, a footballer going down on himself and a discussion of good stuffing. A police horse near Rihanna, Raymond Blanc, athletics commentary and an unsafe descent on a donkey completed an exceptionally damp introduction.
By the end, Enrique was discussing the possibility of introducing Chris to Pitbull or taking him to a party. Chris had begun the interview hoping simply not to embarrass himself and finished it apparently one contact away from a new international social life.
The Vamps fall for Taylor Swift
Connor Ball of The Vamps had fallen from the stage while the band supported Taylor Swift. The mishap led Scott and Chris through other famous concert falls and the delicate question of when concern becomes laughter. Connor had escaped serious injury, allowing the incident to join the tour’s collection of stories rather than end it.
Rhianna Dhillon plays Real or No Real
Film critic Rhianna Dhillon took the Access All Areas quiz. Kutski had not kicked Zane Lowe during a life-sized table-football match, but Radio 1 really had staged a poorly attended Oscars party in Hollywood in the late 1990s where one of The Monkees was among the scarce celebrity guests.
Diplo had genuinely recorded the final twenty minutes of a programme on his phone during a flight, working around the aircraft announcements. Princess Margaret had not recorded a Radio 1 jingle. Rhianna ended with ten points to Scott’s thirty, although Enrique’s willingness to face Chris at close range remained the day’s more impressive performance.
