An apology to anybody listening in bed
Scott opened with an apology. The previous day’s discussion of false widow spiders had reached people listening to the podcast in bed, prompting some to check sheets, shoes and corners before attempting to sleep.
He wanted to reassure them that the spiders were not roaming the country looking for Radio 1 listeners. Chris was less helpful, having already demonstrated how easily stories involving unusually large insects could alarm him.
Gary Lucy tries to repeat the wettest Bingo
Gary Lucy returned to Innuendo Bingo with an uncomfortable benchmark. His previous appearance had been described as the wettest edition ever, so Scott expected him and Chris to deliver again.
They did their best. Material included a BBC Norfolk discussion about false widow spiders, Strictly: It Takes Two and the usual collection of television sentences that became much less innocent once detached from the pictures.
Gary left soaked and still managed to promote his Radio 1 programme, proving that an experienced Bingo guest could now treat being repeatedly sprayed with water as an ordinary part of a media appearance.
Scott wants a tuna party
Scott had also discovered the strange appeal of wholesale shopping. The enormous tins and multipacks made him want to organise a “tuna party” around a single industrial-sized can.
Chris objected that tuna was not sociable food. Scott thought a tin large enough to feed an office solved that problem automatically: once opened, everybody would simply have to take part.
The argument continued into Friday, when Scott would actually acquire the giant tin.
Serbia is still producing stories
The X Factor Serbia film remained a major topic after going online. Scott replayed the judges’ houses discussion with Kiki and admitted he had partly taken over because his friend was not providing the sort of circular, suspenseful comments Scott knew from years of watching the British show.
He was especially amused by Una being too absorbed in Candy Crush to notice him at first, and by the fact the trip kept producing new stories even after the supposedly definitive documentary had been released.
Greg James joined Real or No Real, while attention began turning towards Friday’s interview with Liam Payne and the first full Radio 1 play of One Direction’s new single.
