Justin Bieber hears everyone’s predictions for Boyfriend
Emily introduced the programme with a sixth-form slow-dance disaster. A kiss with a boy in a white shirt ended with both of them covered in blood after she developed a nosebleed, a story Scott immediately linked to Olly Murs’s similar teenage experience.
Beccy had completed the six-mile Sport Relief run, despite arriving in jeans and Converse because she owned no proper sportswear. She finished the last part in her socks, a feat Scott was genuinely impressed by, while Chris reported back from a birthday trip to Torquay’s The Hotel.
Chris’s account of the weekend was full of the details he had travelled there to see: Christian in drag, party night, Play Your Cards Right and guests who brought a Welsh tablecloth to the bar every evening. He maintained that the programme had not exaggerated the place, and Scott could see why the trip had appealed to him.
The show had spent the previous week predicting Bieber’s unreleased single, Boyfriend. Beccy imagined a swaggering rap about nine girls in one weekend, while Scott produced an elaborate spoken introduction about wanting to get inside another man’s head and learn the secret of his relationship.
Before Bieber’s interview and the first play of the real song, listeners’ attempts were compiled alongside Scott and Beccy’s. The feature worked because nobody had any useful information about the track, but everyone was happy to deliver an increasingly bizarre song in its place.
