Scott joins Radio 1’s Longest Show Ever
Scott entered the studio during the Longest Show Ever as one shift handed over to another. Greg James was ready to leave, while Scott was confronted by a room where everyone was beginning to look and smell tired.
The broadcasters reflected on working together years earlier, including an old television review programme in Bristol and a Radio 1 appearance from Glastonbury’s healing fields. Their shared history became a surprisingly calm moment in a frantic event.
The marathon had already raised enough for new on-air dares, including Greg taking his top off on the Red Button. The total passed the relevant target and the threat became reality.
Scott, Chris, Beccy and the wider team kept proposing games to fill the next stretch. Innuendo Bingo, Sleeping Lions and other half-formed ideas all sounded more sensible because everyone had been awake so long.
The handover made the scale of the Comic Relief effort clear. It was not one presenter trying to survive alone, but a succession of teams keeping the station live, fundraising and weirdly cheerful through the exhaustion.
