10 March 2010: Beccy’s LA Prank and the Matt Damon Game

Scott attempts an elaborate prank calling Beccy in “LA with Matt Damon” — but the ruse unravels almost immediately when listeners spot the continuity errors and Greg accidentally spoils it on-air. The episode also features the return of the “Matt Damon Game” where callers compete against Beccy.

The show opens with Scott supposedly unable to reach Beccy, who’s claimed to be in LA with Matt Damon. When he calls her on air, she plays along with tales of Malibu beaches and cocktails with pineapples, but the deception falls apart quickly: Greg had mentioned Scott’s location just minutes before, the webcam gave it away, and the timeline was impossible (it’s sunrise in LA while Beccy claimed to have been on the beach all morning). Listeners text in immediately calling it fake. Scott and Beccy admit the failure good-naturedly, though a few people were actually fooled.

The show then shifts to Scott’s Sport Relief training update. He’s met his personal trainer Andy, who’d already heard yesterday’s show and wasn’t thrilled. Scott backtracks nervously, insisting Andy is actually a “really nice man,” clearly worried about his workout tomorrow. Scott also covers his upcoming “Miles from Hell” challenge, which involves daily running tasks revealed each morning by Chris Moyles.

A highlight comes when Scott discovers “King Curtis” from the American version of Wife Swap — a child he insists is the American version of Beccy. Clips play of Curtis angrily defending bacon and cheese against a new housemother, complete with his calm reasoning giving way to sarcasm before he dramatically announces he’s packing his bags.

The Matt Damon Game returns, played between Laura (a caller), Beccy, and a team member. The challenges include guessing how long the chart numbers lady could order from a Chinese restaurant (she lasted 1 minute 20), counting how many times “innit” was said in EastEnders last week (answer: 13), and timing how long a street performer could bluff her way through a fake film critic interview (she managed nearly 2 minutes 50).

The episode ends with announcements about the office quiz night and a return to the Ronaldinho game — Scott takes calls from people in public places to shout “Ronaldinho” as loudly as possible.
