The Honesty Game
The studio entered its supposed safe zone, where listener questions had to be answered honestly.
Chappers was asked for the largest animal he believed he could wrestle and defeat.
Despite being described as the team’s alpha male, he admitted being afraid of animals and suggested a gerbil or guinea pig. Scott proposed a zebra, but Chappers rejected anything horse-like because horses tended to throw him off.
Another caller asked whether the team had ever stolen anything from a friend’s house.
Beccy admitted taking a bottle of expensive-looking shampoo because her friend had two. She had also taken a top.
Scott said he had searched the sides of friends’ sofas for loose coins. The team distinguished accidental borrowing from deliberate theft and challenged one another’s attempts to minimise their answers.
The shower-cap invention
A caller described her aunt’s homemade hair-drying device.
It consisted of a shower cap attached by a large tube to a box worn on a belt. Warm air travelled through the tube into the cap and dried the hair.
The aunt had used it for years and said it was good for her arms because she did not need to hold a hairdryer.
Scott wanted to travel to Boston in Lincolnshire to try the contraption. A listener then reported seeing an older woman reading Take a Break beneath a traditional salon hood dryer on a bus journey home.
