15 September 2006: Scott’s Gullible Mum Compilation Special

A best-of collection of the show’s most successful wind-ups of Scott’s mum, spanning several weeks of elaborate phone hoaxes — from fake arrests to broken car parts to a Celebrity X-Factor appearance.

This episode celebrates the “Scott’s Gullible Mum” feature with highlights from recent weeks of elaborate pranks. Scott’s mum is convinced he’s been arrested for buying an Orbitracklip school glider and keeping stolen livestock; she gets stuck in a motorised bed while trying to help; she’s told to put a plastic bag over her phone handset during a fake “line cleaning” service from Cablin Wireless; and she authorises £187.50 in unnecessary car repairs (three gearboxes, a metatarsal, and a tyre swap) from a fake garage. The standout hoax has her agreeing to appear on Celebrity X-Factor to sing “I’ve Got You Babe” with Scott as a last-minute replacement for Chris Moyles.

At the end of the show, Scott receives a call from BBC management claiming that Casualty actress Jo Joyner — whom the show had joked about under the nickname “Mad Mouse” — is threatening to leak a false story to The Sun claiming Scott propositioned her in a hotel room and has a tattoo of an anchor with “Hello Sailor” above it. After being advised to either deny or admit to the fabrication, Scott realises this entire phone call is revenge from his mum, who has orchestrated the hoax with the help of the show’s team.
