3 May 2006: Westwood’s Secret Brokeback Mountain Obsession

Scott discovers in Heat magazine that Tim Westwood’s favourite film is Brokeback Mountain — and decides to imagine what that looks like for the notoriously macho DJ.

Scott’s found a Heat magazine questionnaire revealing Tim Westwood’s surprising film choice: Brokeback Mountain. After correctly guessing it from clues (ruling out Usual Suspects, Hood films, and Get Rich or Die Trying), Scott launches into an extended comedy bit imagining Westwood at home after “a long day in the ghetto,” settling onto the sofa with a tub of ice cream and white wine to watch the gay cowboy drama. The bit includes snippets from the film’s dialogue — “It’s a strong look” becomes a catchphrase — as Scott riffs on the contrast between Westwood’s street credibility and this unexpectedly sensitive film preference. The team play along with the increasingly absurd scenario, with Scott repeatedly emphasizing how “big” this revelation is, mining comedy from the gap between Westwood’s public persona and his actual taste in cinema.
