Interesting James Cusack is covering Adele this weekend because she's presenting 5Live Breakfast instead

Also what is funny is on R5L you have Adele followed by Scott which has been the case all week on R1

  2. I am very interested to see how this pans out now Radio 1's "Supply Teacher" is no longer "supply"

Arielle I expect will become the new "supply" like Greg was on earlies, cover the other daytime slots maybe

RMC can self Cover unless all three are off same with Jordan and Vick so I'd imagine the rest of daytime will be split between Katie and Arielle

Hiya, I started wondering what the Future Sounds Show will look like when Clara takes over. What will change and which features will be kept and which removed? What do you think and what would you like?

What is known is that it will definitely remain the hottest record in the world, as it is Radio 1's showcase and they are very proud of it. But what about the rest? Will there be a people party playlist? Live gig? What might be added?

I'm afraid Clara won't be as lively as Annie and won't speak as well during songs as Annie did. Also the mixing and transitioning between songs may be a bit weaker, but we'll see :)

I suspect they will change the imaging and the jingles will relate more strongly to the BBC R1 character.

The package Annie uses has been in for at least 5 years now hasn't it

Would’ve liked it if Katie Thistleton had a promotion in this is Dean going to do Saturday Sunday not Friday or with Friday

Dean has taken all of Jordans Slots Fri Sat and Sun and will be from Salford

The chat box has been broke for days

Looks like rather late notice but Matt and Mollie are in for Greg today. Even the Sounds website hasn’t fully updated yet.

(Arielle said this a few minutes ago).

I had Arielle on in the car coming home from work at 6am and she even said "warming u up for Greg James at 7"

Jordan must be unavailable. Going home on the 17th when restrictions allow seems only fair when he says it’s been since last Summer since he saw family.

The only schedule hasn’t been uploaded for the Sunday yet? Do we know if they are double shifting. I agree RMC or Arielle covering Sunday morning would be better.

Or even Greg - I bet he would if given the call

Chris Stark? give him a chance to do it solo

  7. Several elements suprise me here

    A. why not use Jordan in the week? unless he is going home?

    B. Why double shift them on Sunday, when someone like Arielle, or any of the weekday DJs could cover Jordans slot, before he went to drivetime, in fact after he did it wasn't unknown for Greg to cover a weekend shift, or Scott for that matter (although in this case Scott is off)

Greg used to regularly cover the chart on a Sunday and Scott did too, and cover things like dance anthems and all

Chris Moyles used to cover weekend shifts sometimes, when they were at last resort, it seems these days the weekday lot only stray to weekend shows when its something like Big Weekend

    Grimshaw or Mills?

Grimshaw and North to swap I suspect and at the same time RMC would get Mids on Friday as well

September 2022 Mills to R2 M&M to weekday afternoons Monday - Friday, Jordan takes on chart so is on drive 5 days making Friday daytime back to being part of the week

Indeed, there has been so many departures and changes in the past year, i think Aled has a strong schedule across the week. Not a huge fan of the changes to show starts/finishes but they obviously have their reasons for doing so. Scott's departure in particular has been predicted time and time again for what feels like an age, with no sign of him going anywhere, and rightly so.

Scott's departure is speculated all the time, it's like Moyles in about 2008 when they speculated it, I wish people would jjst leave him alone and enjoy the radio he does, when he does finally leave, it will be straight to Radio 2 so we won't loose him, he's in a kind of waiting room at the moment waiting the "slot" to come up on R2

I feel like it was an essential move to move Annie Mac to more earlier slot as do think there needs to be more mix of specialist shows and specialist songs played within peak listening times. But to start and end the breakfast show so late seems odd

They told us why... because of COVID listening habits have changed, no longer is there a mad commute at 7/730 by car which was the massive listener base in the mornings, 90% of the UK is WFH and many firms are staying as WFH models as they have found it works so well, and saves costs of renting masses of office space when they can just hire conference facilities when they need, therefore more people aren't getting up than before COVID, ergo not listening at 6.30 anymore, more likely listening at 730/8am

(My Mrs used to get up at 0530 to leave at 7 for work in the car now she gets up at 645 to start WFH at 830 - see the difference)

They also had to deal with the evening listeners not commuting home at the same time, and more likely listening to Annie earlier, so they had to move her earlier as well, now Grimmy catches the teens off the school run as well as the 5pm commuters who may have him on at 5 past 5 in the kicthen after their commute down the stairs while preping dinner as opposed to having him on 530 - 630 while driving home or on the train

Does this make sense to you?

Is Gemma Bradley's usual show pre-recorded? Because that's quite unusual for them to have her finish at 1am then be on again 9 hours later? Isn't that the reason why Dev and Alice were moved off weekend breakfast a few weeks ago.

Dev's situation was slightly different as in he was covering the 9-11 weeknight slot until they got a new host (RMC) - when he started covering they didn't know who would take the slot

    This is one week only

  12. MistaJam had a pop at R1 saying no pre recorded mixes here, do we know how Radio 1 do it? and is Dance Anthems done the same way? I always "assumed" him and Charlie mixed it themselves on the decks

I don’t think the quiz is sounding tired tbh, I was just thinking the other day how good it’s been having a proper feature at the end of the show again, it was weird when RoNR stopped and the show just kind of, ended. Would still be glad if it made a reappearance

I would like to see "Where ere they" come back as well, it seems the show only has three slots for features, 140, 240 and 310, the first half hour is always and always has been too music heavy for my liking, also I don't see why they have to have a newsbeat at 130, when there is the long one at 1245?

Dev should have had a much bigger gig at Radio 1 and got it much sooner.

Yeash he kind of missed the boat a bit - waited on earlies for a bit then got weekend breakfast which i'd say was less of a gig, then covered weekdays, maybe had Grimmy gone after breakfast completely he would have got drive maybe but - like Scott with breakfast that ship sailed

I think in an alternate world Moyles shoudl ahve left in about 2009/10 then Scott on breakfast for 5 years then onto afternoons, like Mayo etc with Greg taking Breakfast then and Grimmy not on weekdays

I would have thought during the pandemic he's just trying to steady the ship. Huw Stephens, Dev and Phil Taggart were all losses to the station, so he has made some difficult decisions already.

Indeed - He doesn't want to be doing a Bannister type clear out specially when there is a pandemic on - Dev and all were difficult decisions, can you imagine the uproar there will be if Scott or dare I even say Grimmy moves on? He knows that as well

He did say his weekend job meant he now had a permanent role unlike beforehand. They could, of course, feel he's proven himself for a bigger role in the future and now want to try other presenters filling in for daytime presenters.

Yes quite - if they Know Jordan is headed for daytime (drive) then they need to find a cover to cover for him
