  1. To be fair, the rest of the country didn't vote them in this time either... hence NO-ONE wanting them.
  2. Would that be Thatcher, after she was finished with the mines?
  3. I suspect they will care more around Election time, and I can't quite believe they were naive enough that they didn't consider such abuses happening with the way they set the program up. Surprised it's still going after the Tesco incident and mass pullout as a result of that. There's more here that has yet to come to light. Anyways back on Topic: Saw this sarcastic tweet not long ago, actually thought it was an argument by someone on that rarest of things, the 'Viv side' at first (Sarcasm doesn't always translate well, as we know) "I guess in an independent Scotland, we wouldn't tax fuel. And we'd still balance our books."
  4. The sh** year for music continues with yet another death of a member of a 70s Supergroup, this time it's Bob Welch, guitarist and vocalist for Fleetwood Mac in their earlier years
  5. You did enough to post about it... not the first time tonight either.
  6. Wha... Kendal Mint Cake? Jaffa Cakes knowing you. Anyone else know what she's on about? Anyone? Bueller?
  7. Warren Beatty? As in the guy from the 90s Dick Tracy movie?
  8. Agreed, but this also applies to commercial radio just as much.
  9. Indeed it was. No surprise Viv's memory fails again.
  10. I'm guessing they just scanned for all tweeting certain keywords, regardless of context or tone they were used in. I hate followers like that and just ignore or block.
  11. First day off work since last Thursday, ironic that I have a day off when many go back to work.
  12. Don't worry, I'm sure they'll unfollow again soon. Way to answer the excellent points in Tom's post too... ohwait
  13. Pretty sure that rebuttal has already been covered too. You're aware of this fact that politicians regardless of allegiance and leaning often make promises and then fail to keep most of them when it actually comes down to it, right? Also spread misinformation to push agenda.
  14. How can you say that yet 'love all the Jubilee stuff' like the river pageant and the concert? Doesn't work both ways... Agreed on the Government, but I don't overly see how having a seperate one for each country that makes up the UK would be any different.
  15. Not all of us even get that, I have worked the entire weekend, and it's not like I even get much extra money, or that it's by choice. Just tuned in to Scott and it's more Jubilee concert stuff that I could care less about. That said, Rolf Harris got stopped before the end of a song... bet HE had more class than to give a middle finger like some overrated bint at the Brits did.
  16. OK, before I was kinda ambivalent on the whole Celebrations, thinking of the cost and how little of that the RICH Royals would actually foot... then I saw this http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/jun/04/jubilee-pageant-unemployed Camoron and his Workfare Bullshit again, being used by the Royals, how the HELL can this have been legal??? The family could have afforded to pay people properly for this if they can pay everyone who appeared at the stupid concert!!!
  17. A great little read I found earlier in response to the "If you don't like it, move away" mentality shown earlier in this thread http://www.latentexistence.me.uk/if-you-dont-like-it-go-somewhere-else/ even if it more specifically relates to all the Jubilee hoo-ha, it does extend to other areas.
  18. For me it's gonna be a loooonnnng week of late shifts with only 1 day off. Though on that day, I will be off to watch Prometheus, early showing to avoid queues with crowds of annoying little brats waiting to see other films. For someone who is so hardcore pro-scottish-independence, you seem also pretty pro-Monarchy (or at least pro-British patriotic rituals and related kerfuffle), ironically that's 1 thing you'd lose with independence.
  19. I just worked a train home out of St Pancras that had people with various flags and other paraphernalia, they seemed happy enough. Better than football or cricket crowds in terms of behaviour (though most delightful train crowds I've come across yet were actually the Rugby lot).
  20. so you've answered one of the factors given, but just because you are placed somewhere by birth or other circumstance doesn't mean you have to LIKE the place you are in (I myself was forced to leave London which I liked for a place I didn't like at the age of 7 when family moved north, many things stopping me moving back, this crappy economy for one). It may be that there are other factors preventing such moves. Also I find your "another bus company in the UK" answer even more flippant than some of my sarcastic efforts (at least mine were partially intended that way!), given that you of all people should know the state of the job market and economy here right now and how difficult that makes such moves.
  21. Whatever happened to self-identity? Just saying it is possible to CHOOSE what you are, which comes neatly back to what this whole thread is about. Some will choose a preference of Independence, while some will prefer to stand with the rest of the United (clue's in the name) Kingdom. As an 'outsider' I guess I'm seeing valid pros and cons for both cases, but both sides in the campaigning that I'm seeing also seem to be having a good go at smearing the other (like the AV Vote). Dirty politics is one thing I DON'T see any pros to, and add to that I don't know what further reaching effect such change would have. I mean there's places like Hong Kong that have changed rulership and they seem to be prospering as a city-state under China, but there could be problems with that we simply do not hear about.
  22. Beneath my sarcasm lies an extremely valid point.
  23. Can we club together and get Viv an atlas and maybe a load of history books? Last I looked, Scotland was part of Britain.
  24. Yeah because living in the capital carries a mandatory condition of loving the country you're in the capital of. Your eyes would REALLY get opened by a visit to London with it's huge melting pot.
