The Sara Cox Breakfast Show delivered a double dose of big news on Monday's programme. Angela Scanlon, who has covered Drivetime over the summer, revealed live on air that she is taking over the slot permanently from November, hosting every weekday from 4pm to 7pm. She told Cox she found out the news "in John Lewis" while buying a sling for a friend. Listeners sent in dozens of congratulatory messages. It was also confirmed that Ben Earl of The Shires will take over the Radio 2 Country Show on Thursday nights from Bob Harris.
Pop star Will Young was the show's other big guest, chatting about his three dogs (plus a fourth living with his parents) and his love of gardening, before announcing his Evergreen 25th Anniversary Tour, running from 20 February to 13 March next year, with tickets on sale Friday.
