Jared Leto made Scott nervous
Thirty Seconds to Mars had performed in the Live Lounge, and Scott admitted Jared Leto was one of the rare guests who genuinely intimidated him. Leto’s fame, acting career and intense interview reputation made Scott unusually nervous before the conversation even began.
Jared and Tomo Miličević were relaxed when they arrived, and Scott soon introduced them to one of the programme’s favourite viral videos.
“Catch him, Derry!”
The clip featured an Irish family attempting to remove a bat from their kitchen while the person filming offered increasingly frantic encouragement. The chaotic commentary, the dog watching proceedings and repeated instructions to “catch him” had already become a favourite on the show.
Jared and Tomo watched the whole thing and were immediately amused. Scott encouraged them to make it their new favourite tour video.
Fancy dress met serious workplace news
Listeners also recalled occasions when compulsory workplace fancy dress had collided with situations that were far too serious for costumes.
Katie remembered a Halloween at work when everyone was called into a meeting and told a director had resigned. One colleague, dressed as Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter with a toilet seat around her neck, slowly removed her costume glasses as the room realised how serious the announcement was.
The programme also continued investigating the meaning of Despacito, part of Scott and Chris’s continuing fascination with the huge wave of Spanish-language hits dominating the summer.
