12 July 2017: Eddie became Southern Rail’s teenage Twitter star

Coldplay brought Scott and Chris to Cardiff

Scott and Chris had been to see Coldplay in Cardiff and came back with a few stories from behind the scenes. Scott had spent the run-up worrying about the weather and jokingly took credit when the stadium roof was eventually closed. Chris also got to meet Chris Martin during the trip.

Eddie took over Southern Rail’s Twitter account

The real star of the show was Eddie, a 15-year-old spending a week on work experience with Southern Rail. The company had allowed him to take over its Twitter account with the message that he was ready to answer questions, and the internet immediately decided to test him with almost anything except trains.

People asked Eddie for advice on everything from dinner choices to everyday dilemmas, and his enthusiastic replies turned him into an unexpected social-media hit. Scott and Chris spoke to him about how the takeover had happened, with Eddie explaining that he had first answered tweets alongside the social team before being trusted to introduce himself publicly. Scott was impressed enough to say he would give him a job.

Which pop stars have clean kitchens?

The programme also considered which musicians listeners would trust to make them homemade food. The question was less about cooking ability than whether their kitchens looked sufficiently clean, with Scott, Chris and producer Mark judging various stars on entirely imagined standards of domestic hygiene.

The Celebrity First Dates dilemma from the previous day also continued, with Scott still considering whether appearing on a dating show while already seeing somebody could ever be explained away as work.
