A highly visible wardrobe failure
Chris begins the programme by admitting that his trousers have split at the back. His attempt to move sideways around the glass-walled studio has merely shown the damage to everybody walking past.
The alternatives include gym shorts, working in his vest and pants, or a mysterious pair of very small red shorts found beneath Scott’s desk. Listeners predictably favour the least dignified option, but Chris refuses to investigate which former guest might have left the shorts behind.
Pointless gets wet
Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman arrive from Pointless and turn Innuendo Bingo into a four-person game. Chris recalls the excessive celebration that followed his own pointless answer on the programme, while the visitors face clips taken from their own carefully worded quiz.
The round begins with “five pictures of tits and finches” and continues through television and radio phrases that sound far less innocent without context. The smartly dressed hosts leave thoroughly soaked, giving Scott the epic edition he had promised.
Charles plans the serious FIFA night
Listener Charles asks the programme to improve his annual FIFA tournament. The night already includes four-star teams, managers in fancy dress, press conferences and a formal draw, but he wants an opening ceremony grand enough to make the event feel important.
Scott initially checks out of the football conversation, then returns when a buffet is mentioned. Chris understands the tournament immediately and accepts the challenge of producing an Olympic-style introduction before the following Friday.
