24 February 2016: Hannah dates for opportunities in the acting world

A spare Brit Awards seat

Chris called in sick after Scott had accompanied him to a pharmacy the previous day and heard a needlessly detailed account of his symptoms. His absence created immediate interest in the Brit Awards seat he was supposed to occupy that evening.

Listener Hannah offered herself as a replacement, promising to bring the same enthusiasm as Chris and only a limited risk of embarrassing herself around pop stars. Scott warned that the queue was already long and that the organisers might have filled the place without consulting him.

Scott had prepared for the ceremony with a last-minute gym session. Olly Murs arrived, stood nearby and encouraged a sweating, red-faced Scott through the workout. Scott planned to return the pressure by watching Olly during his next recording session.

Acting, actor, actress

Another Hannah answered the request for somebody who had dated for relationship perks alone. She wanted a partner established in acting, directing, writing or another influential part of the industry, preferably at a level where the connection might create opportunities.

The ideal person also needed to cook, behave kindly and look attractive. Hannah repeatedly returned to her own status as an actor and the importance of finding somebody from the acting world, giving the show enough material for a drinking game.

Producer Will counted nine direct uses of “acting” in a short section of the call, before allowing for all the references to actors and the industry around it. Hannah’s openness impressed the team even while confirming that romance and professional networking had become difficult to separate.

Bangers without Chris

Chris had left a song choice behind, allowing Battle of the Bangers to continue without him. Scott used his rival’s absence to campaign freely and won with Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty”, a forceful selection for Bamboléo Wednesday.

The show looked ahead to that evening’s ceremony with a Brit Awards edition of Real or No Real. Scott hoped for an enjoyable night without repeating previous years’ worst decisions, a hope that would be tested almost immediately.
