The farmers receive a second hearing
Scott replayed the previous day’s painfully hesitant farming match. The questions about cattle, goats and tractors still sounded less like flirting than an auction, while listeners continued to dispute whether both participants qualified as farmers.
Chris remained in Bali and would return the following Monday. Scott therefore had time to enjoy the running commentary without allowing him to defend it.
Scott’s mother discovers emojis
Scott’s mother had begun replying to complete messages with a thumbs-up symbol or a smiling face. He missed actual sentences and considered sending an aubergine emoji simply because she would have to search for its meaning.
The team advised against it. An unexplained aubergine from her son was much more likely to create a new family problem than end the stream of thumbs-ups.
Colin Furze brings the Cake-O-Matic
Inventor Colin Furze returned after his attempt to build a giant machine capable of farting across the Channel towards France. He was now developing bicycles with wheels made from ice, including an orange-juice version that could theoretically be licked when the rider became thirsty.
More importantly for Radio 1, Colin had built the Cake-O-Matic, a device capable of launching food directly into somebody’s face. Scott immediately saw the possibility of an Innuendo Bingo variation and asked whether the machine could visit the studio.
Joe meets Gemma Cairney
Joe Lenzie from Sigma arrived while the duo were following “Nobody to Love” with “Changing”. He had been watching earlier Bingo videos and knew that Gemma Cairney’s reputation as the Queen of Bingo was deserved.
Joe worried about soaking somebody he had only just met, then accepted that restraint would make the game worse. Gemma arrived ready to project water, and Scott’s collection of clips from television and radio quickly covered both players.
Charlie Sloth joined for Fact Tuesday and drew with Scott in Real or No Real. Among the genuine claims was that Jason Mraz grew hundreds of avocado trees and supplied part of his crop to Chipotle, a name Charlie and Scott still could not agree how to pronounce.
