Team Meaden meets Rachel Riley
Rachel Riley returned to Innuendo Bingo while still competing on Strictly Come Dancing. Unfortunately, Scott had already spent money on Team Meaden T-shirts for Deborah Meaden before she was eliminated.
His solution was brutally practical: wear them anyway.
Rachel immediately spotted the problem. Scott explained that the shirts had cost money and could not simply be wasted, while also admitting that every Strictly contestant the show enthusiastically supported seemed to disappear soon afterwards.
It was hardly the motivational welcome Rachel might have wanted.
A return to very wet form
Rachel’s previous Innuendo Bingo had become one of the feature’s most watched videos and, in Scott’s memory, helped mark the point when the game became noticeably wetter.
The rematch followed that tradition. Rachel and Chris faced clips from television and radio, including material involving other Strictly contestants, and she repeatedly got the full force of Chris’s water.
By the end, Scott was congratulating her on the game while carefully avoiding promising too much support for Saturday. The show’s “kiss of death” now had enough evidence behind it to make everybody nervous.
Scott’s new television obsession replies
Scott had become hooked on Meet the Russians, a fly-on-the-wall series about extremely wealthy Russian-speaking residents of London. His favourites were Ukrainian pop star Kamaliya and her billionaire husband, Mohammad Zahoor.
He had been talking about them on air when social media performed its usual trick: the people on television heard him.
A direct message arrived inviting Scott and Chris to meet them that evening. Greg James and others immediately questioned the wisdom of going to a billionaire’s hotel suite because of a message on Twitter. Scott saw it differently. Opportunities like this did not happen every day, and he had just survived an invitation from a Serbian rock star that everybody thought was suspicious.
The comparison settled it. Scott and Chris were going to meet the Russians.
Charlie Sloth and the last facts before the party
Charlie Sloth joined for Real or No Real, but by then much of the studio’s attention had shifted to what would happen after 4pm.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Meet the Russians had simply been Scott’s favourite reality show. Now its stars were waiting outside Radio 1. October was about to deliver him a second bizarre television adventure in less than two weeks.
