Scott signs off another Breakfast week
Scott returned to It’s Only Bley Friday after missing the previous week while in northern Kenya. He compared the feature to exercise: if he did not do it regularly, he lost the technique.
One listener said her boyfriend now called at five every Friday to perform his own version. Scott approved, although he thought the caller needed more preparation and some proper background music.
The programme looked back over its successful Breakfast run, including the Jennifer Lopez interview and Chris’s tense performance in the Post Office Home and Away singalong. Scott was pleased to replay the moments, while Chris had little choice but to relive them.
The format also demonstrated how quickly a tiny show idea could travel. What began as Scott shouting into a microphone had become a ritual listeners were reproducing elsewhere.
Scott ended the week with the same mixture of high-profile guests and deliberately daft experiments that had defined the cover. The sense of a Friday finish was genuine, even if the show had started far too early for anyone to be fully ready for it.
