Scott’s first breakfast
Scott opened his first morning covering Zoe Ball by warning regular listeners not to panic.
Anyone hearing his voice at 6.30 had not accidentally slept until the afternoon.
He admitted the alarm had been a shock and said he had woken repeatedly during the night before sitting bolt upright when it finally sounded.

The Olympic closing ceremony
Scott reflected on the end of the Paris Olympics.
He had tried to stay awake for Tom Cruise’s appearance but found the long closing ceremony difficult to survive.
Tom eventually abseiled into the stadium, collected the Olympic flag and rode away on a motorbike before the handover to Los Angeles.
Scott also became fascinated by the French song Les Champs-Élysées, which appeared to function as France’s equivalent of Sweet Caroline.
Khaleesi’s passport problem
A six-year-old girl named Khaleesi initially had her passport application rejected because of concerns about Warner Bros owning rights connected with the Game of Thrones name.
The family had booked a trip to Disneyland and feared the naming issue would prevent their first holiday together.
Scott, Richie and Tina discussed the unusual clash between a child’s legal name and a fictional character’s intellectual property.
The week ahead
Scott revealed that Janet Jackson would be joining the programme the following morning.
He also remembered that his series of Celebrity Race Across the World was due to begin later in the week.
Handover
Scott handed over to Vernon Kay after completing his first Radio 2 breakfast programme.
