Listeners described a difficult start to the week.
One had driven in the wrong direction for four motorway junctions, another had a work flight cancelled and children had spent the school day in wet uniforms.
Scott reassured everybody that there was not much Monday left.
Dating beyond dating apps
Scott said several single friends had become exhausted by endless swiping and conversations that never progressed beyond “hi”.
He investigated places where people were now finding relationships away from conventional dating apps.
Examples included online Scrabble, language-learning platforms, running and cycling apps and supermarket signals.
The discussion also returned to the Spanish trend of placing an upside-down pineapple in a shopping trolley to indicate romantic availability.
The Birthday Game: Jo
Jo from Manchester turned 60 and had previously appeared on Race Across the World.
Her sister-in-law Fiona nominated her without warning.
Jo liked swing, R&B and blues but was open to most music.
Her first spin was the Chemical Brothers’ Setting Sun, featuring Noel Gallagher.
She rejected it.
The second was Jennifer Rush’s The Power of Love.
Jo gambled again.
Her compulsory final song was Sugababes’ Push the Button, number one for three weeks in 2005.
She described it as a brilliant party song and accepted the result.
The Music Police
Holly from Staffordshire supplied a melody she believed came from a French dance-pop track heard during school lessons in the 2010s.
Scott warned that the song might be considerably older than Holly remembered and opened the case to the force.
Handover
Scott handed over after romance outside the apps and Jo’s third-spin party record.
