The end of term
Scott celebrated schools breaking up for summer.
Teachers, parents and pupils sent messages about final assemblies, classroom clear-outs and the relief of reaching the holidays.
The programme also reflected the disruption caused by the major global IT outage, which affected shops, airports, broadcasters and GP surgeries.
The Birthday Game: Sam
Sam’s household rule was that nobody should have to do chores on their birthday.
She spent the day watching Bridgerton and avoiding school runs and cooking.
Sam wanted upbeat 1990s or 2000s hip-hop and R&B from artists such as Usher or Flo Rida.
Her first spin was James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful. She rejected it for being too slow.
The second was Paul Young’s Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home). Her husband would have approved, but Sam wanted something more uplifting.
Her compulsory final song was Donna Summer’s I Feel Love, number one in 1977.
Sam initially mistook it for an 1980s record but was delighted with the dance-floor result.
The Wonder Years
The Friday Wonder Years continued with songs and listener memories from successive years.
Handover
Scott handed over after teachers and families officially began the summer break.
