14 May 2024: Northern Lights disappointment and a Disney birthday

The Northern Lights debate

Listeners continued discussing the aurora seen across Britain.

Scott argued that the photographs looked far more impressive than the sky itself.

Rob Beckett sent a message saying the Northern Lights were effectively a scam because cameras revealed colours that were difficult to see with the naked eye.

Other listeners admitted mistaking shop signs and ordinary lights for the aurora.

Locked in the greenhouse

Dan described being trapped inside his greenhouse after the door latch closed behind him.

He had left his phone indoors.

Dan spent around half an hour flashing an emergency torch towards the kitchen window while his wife remained unaware.

He eventually pushed out a plastic panel and released the latch himself.

His wife had assumed he was repotting plants at 11.30pm.

Bridgerton brides

Scott explored the influence of Bridgerton on wedding planning.

Listeners discussed Regency-style dresses, venues, flowers and string-quartet versions of modern pop songs.

The programme considered whether couples were increasingly trying to recreate the show’s romantic atmosphere.

The Birthday Game: Lorise

Lorise from Halifax was a dedicated Disney fan.

She had recently taken her husband, mother, children and their partners to Walt Disney World in Florida.

Her interest began after visiting Disneyland in California when she was 21.

Lorise said the parks remained her happiest place and she had enjoyed returning with her children as adults.

The Birthday Game provided a number-one soundtrack for the celebration.

Handover

Scott handed over after the Bridgerton wedding discussion and another round of Northern Lights messages.
