Learning about Eurovision
Scott reflected on the previous night’s Eurovision allocation draw and Liverpool handover ceremony.
He had appeared on The One Show, where Alex Jones discovered live that Eurovision involved two semi-finals.
Scott also admitted that he had only recently learned about the annual draw and the ceremonial exchange of the host-city keys.
The end of shared passwords
Scott reacted to reports that a major streaming platform would tighten its rules on sharing account passwords outside the subscriber’s household.
Devices would need to reconnect to the account holder’s home Wi-Fi regularly.
Scott realised his mother might soon lose access to The Crown through his account.
Andrew’s James Bond birthday
Andrew returned to explain the surprise his family had arranged after his Birthday Game appearance.
His wife Natalie had instructed him to be wearing a tuxedo at 7pm without telling him why.
An Aston Martin Vantage arrived outside his house. Andrew travelled with the windows down despite the cold so that he could hear the engine and feel like James Bond.
The car delivered him to a hall where around 150 people, all wearing formal clothes, were waiting for a surprise birthday party.
Guests had travelled from Scotland, Merseyside, Manchester and southern England. Bond music played as Andrew arrived, while his children helped serve the food.
Andrew and Natalie had known each other since their teens and were approaching their 14th wedding anniversary. He described the night as something he would remember for the rest of his life.
Beyoncé announces a world tour
News of Beyoncé’s first world tour in seven years broke during the programme.
The UK dates included Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland and two nights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Scott played Love on Top, prompting listeners to sing along with all of its key changes.
The Birthday Game: Sarah
Sarah, a doctor living near Guildford, turned 47.
She had attended The 1975’s concert the night after Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance and had briefly hoped Taylor might return for a second night.
Sarah shared her birthday with Harry Styles, Sophie Turner and Joy Mangano, the inventor whose life inspired the film Joy.
Her first spin was Blondie’s Heart of Glass, number one in 1979. Sarah rejected it despite calling it a classic.
The second was the KLF’s 3 a.m. Eternal, number one in 1991.
Sarah chose it immediately, avoiding a compulsory third spin that would have produced Aqua’s Doctor Jones.
Should pets sleep in the bed?
Scott’s dog Teddy had originally slept in his own bed.
After around six months, that arrangement had collapsed completely. Teddy now slept between Scott and Sam, lying on his back and taking up as much room as possible.
Listeners were divided.
Big Al argued that owners should imagine their partner walking around the garden, eating whatever they found and grooming themselves before attempting to climb into bed.
Paul said dogs gave better cuddles than people.
One pug needed to spoon one of her owners all night before a German shepherd joined the bed at 5am.
Other messages involved cats with their own blankets and, unexpectedly, ferrets described as ideal “snuggle buddies”.
Scott drew the line at the ferrets.
Handover
Sara Cox thanked Scott for a “beautiful show” before beginning her Wednesday programme.
