Wing arrives in the studio after Scott has personally paid for her flight from New Zealand to perform at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Maidstone. Fresh off the plane and mostly rested in her hotel room, she’s in good spirits and keen to see her UK fans. Scott presents her with a cheque to cover the airfare costs. When pressed about a rumoured special cover version at the festival, Wing hints cryptically at a tribute song that will “give respect to Diana and give a great relief to the royal family and the two princes” — suggesting she may perform a Princess Diana tribute, though she won’t fully reveal it. She’s set to open the BBC Introducing stage on Sunday at one o’clock.
Later, Nelly joins the show and confesses his genuine fear of flying — he doesn’t understand how the metal aircraft stays in the air and admits his feet leaving the ground just doesn’t feel natural. Despite this, he’s excited about performing at the Big Weekend on Sunday.
