Jordan, the beneficiary of a random act of kindness back in December, visits Radio 1 for the day — and Scott springs a surprise on him. Plus, Scott finally reveals what really happened between Laura, Gareth, and James from One Night with Laura.
Jordan returns to the show after being treated to a trip to London (including the Tower of London and the London Eye) as part of a random act of kindness feature six months earlier. He’s brought Easter eggs for Scott, Chris, and Noah as a thank-you, and still looks after his mum. When asked what he thought of visiting Radio 1, Jordan admits he found it less glamorous than he’d imagined. Chris has recorded a surprise sports bulletin featuring Jordan as a newsreader, which he plays back to a delighted (and slightly mortified) Jordan mid-show.
The main event is Scott clearing up the confusion around Laura’s weekend from the previous day’s show. Listeners had emailed in saying Scott and Chris had been harsh on Laura about her activities. Scott admits they were a bit out of order and that he and Laura had a chat over wine. The revelation: Laura wasn’t with Gareth (the winner of One Night with Laura) — instead, she’s been seeing James, another contestant from the show who was knocked out before the final. They’ve now made it official and are in a proper relationship; Laura’s even met his parents. Scott frames this positively: the show was about finding Laura true love, and while it wasn’t with the winner, she has genuinely found it. When they call Gareth to get his reaction, he’s completely fine with it all, saying they’ll be mates forever because they have matching earrings. He admits he’d have preferred James to ask his permission, but he’s genuinely happy for them both.
