Live from Belfast
Scott presented the entire programme from Northern Ireland as Country 2 Country arrived in Belfast, Glasgow and London. He promised major artists, committed fans and “lots of bonus Bob Harris”.
John Kerr from BBC Radio Ulster joined as Scott’s guide to Northern Ireland’s country scene. Scott repeatedly called him “the Bob Harris of Belfast”, while John described local fans as intensely organised and proud of the genre.
The discussion also highlighted Northern Irish country artists, including performers appearing across official festival events and associated shows.
The Easiest Quiz
The Friday quiz took place from Belfast and determined the week’s winner after Kay’s 19-point score on Wednesday.
Janet Devlin
Janet Devlin joined Scott with her guitar and discussed moving from television talent-show recognition into country and Americana.
She talked about the influence of Northern Ireland on her music and the way storytelling remained central to the songs she wanted to write.
The conversation covered her relationship with country audiences and the difference between singing in an intimate studio and appearing at a large festival.
Janet also helped Scott with the practical and cultural details of presenting in Belfast, including which expressions sounded authentic and which should be avoided.
She performed live, giving the outside broadcast an acoustic moment before the arena-scale events later in the day.
Cody Johnson
Cody Johnson joined Scott ahead of headlining in Belfast. Scott immediately acknowledged that Johnson’s credentials went beyond country styling: he had genuinely competed in rodeo.
Johnson discussed his route from rodeo and independent music into large arenas and major international festival appearances.
The conversation covered the discipline shared by rodeo and touring, with both demanding preparation, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure.
Scott asked about playing in the UK and the enthusiasm of audiences who had waited years to see him. Johnson said the distance from home did not reduce the familiarity of fans with the songs.
The interview also gave Scott a final lesson in country authenticity before he stepped onto the arena stage later that evening.
The country Wonder Years
The Wonder Years was given a country flavour, moving from older crossover records into songs from the 1990s and 2000s. Listeners travelling to C2C in Belfast, Glasgow and London used the sequence as the soundtrack to their journeys.
14 March 2025: Vernon Kay
Scott told Vernon he had been given a personalised denim cowboy hat and was preparing to co-host in front of around 11,000 people.
Vernon advised him to walk out with his thumbs in his belt loops, pause, feel the room and tip the hat before speaking. Scott predicted that nerves would instead produce “a double thumbs-up”.
