Beccy tries to transfer Craig David into One Direction
The programme began with a second Danny Howard, a 24-year-old support worker from Bognor Regis whose name regularly caused confusion. Bank staff had prepared a small welcoming party because they expected the Radio 1 DJ, while cabin crew on a flight became less attentive when they realised he was not famous. He had also received complaints about Danny’s shows on Twitter and politely promised to put more effort into the next one, before revealing that he was six feet four, tattooed and a new father.
Chris was delighted that Chris Moyles had discussed him on the Breakfast Show for a second morning, even though Moyles described him as insignificant and a moron. His friend Brad left an excited voicemail celebrating the mention, and Auntie Theresa said the family were proud of him while adding that his grandmother had never been prouder. Beccy received her own indirect Breakfast Show appearance when the team compared her voice and permanently restrained irritation to a woman discussing milk prices.
Beccy tested Scott’s idea for a summer pop-star transfer window by posing as an agent and telephoning Craig David. She proposed moving Harry Styles elsewhere and installing Craig in One Direction, but her carefully prepared persuasion became unnecessary when he treated the offer seriously. Craig discussed growing the required floppy fringe and eventually set his price at £67 million, leaving Beccy without a suitable ending because her script had assumed he would refuse.
Olympic swimmer Chad le Clos’s father Bert became Scott’s new favourite parent after an emotional television interview celebrating his son’s gold medal. Bert repeatedly described Chad as beautiful and unbelievable, becoming so overwhelmed that Scott nearly cried with him. The team also noticed that his enthusiastic voice resembled the Cookie Monster and combined the interview with “C Is for Cookie”, although the joke did not diminish how genuinely proud he sounded.
The Olympic theme continued in Oh, What’s Occurring?, where Chris and Beccy had to distinguish real competing countries from plants, fonts, fictional planets and animals. Comoros, Tuvalu and Djibouti were genuine, while Posidonia was a plant and Jeparan came from Star Wars. Beccy then faced a bottle of fizzy wine in a new challenge, naming 13 celebrities before the cork finally flew out and hit Scott’s foot.
