I don't think that's true, matt has been doing a few fill-ins for grimy lately so could mean a more permanent show, I would like deacon, i enjoyed his show, however it might be inconvenient for him as he does comedy.
Well, Matt did a few shows covering in for Grimmy, Huw done 3 weeks of them.
Is Adam any good?Yes, he is. Anyway, I think we'll know the news about Adam this week.

AGE OF DJ DOES NOT EQUAL AGE OF AUDIENCE. Radio 1 are more concerned with age of audience. Westwood, in his 50s, has the youngest average audience out of Radio 1 or 1xtra. Scott will stay about (if he wants to) because younger people like his show (of course age will be higher due to timeslot).
I said earlier, that Radio 1 thinks DJ age is very related to his listeners age. That's not true, but I'm just being realistic. Old DJ's on R1 are being axed for a few years, that's obvious.
Adam Catterall's tweeted he's going to be back on the radio soon. Could it be Radio 1?That's interesting, maybe after September 24th they will need more cover DJ's?

I propose a fiendish plan to RAISE the avg. listener age!
gimme 5 minutes.
Westwood on breakfast, simulcasting with Radio 3 from 10 to 16, then Desmond Carrington on drivetime, and exdented Womans Hour from 19 to 7. How's that?
-
Ok, let's have a look to changes at Radio 1 schedule from 2009: in 2009 Jo Whiley (then 44 years old) got axed from R1 weekdays and weekends afternoons, Edith Bowman (35 in 2009 and 38 years old now) got also axed from R1 weekdays and weekends. Fearne (27 then) and Greg (23 then) replaced them. Few months ago, Scott (39) got axed from drivetime, he was replaced with Greg (26 now). Now, Moyles (38) is being replaced with 28 years old Grimshaw. And you're saying DJ's are being axed not because of their age? If they would have a replacement for Scott, he would be axed from R1 weekdays daytime. Dev is in the uni at the moment, so IMO they're just waiting for him and then he'll be put in for Scott. Just sayin'
About Moyles covering Mills, it technically could happen, but I don't think it will happen as Ben Cooper is obsessed with DJ's age.
Btw, it's a miracle that they put Sara in for Fearne, but i'm sure that Gemma or Jameela (other girls of R1) will be very busy in early 2013's, so they had no chance.
-
Don't see why not.. Sara Cox was booted off the breakfast show and still covers on weekdays.
Well, Sara's 37 years old (was 30 when she left breakfast show), Chris is now 38. Chris is being axed because of his age (wich Radio 1 thinks is very related to his listeners age). Do you really think that they'll put a guy, who "can't attract young listeners" on weekdays again? Cmon...
-
Yea, Greg's off because he's doing Reading festival coverage for TV. But I don't think that they'll put Danny as a regular cover for Greg, but who knows really.
-
I agree that Greg will cover Grimmy, a girl for Coxy probably Gemma, but I disagree with Greg + Scott. I can't see Dev on Drivetime he might cover Scott + why would Huw cover Scott if he had a weekday slot as he's not going to ever end up on daytime IMO so it would be pointless and needlessly disrupt the schedule. So I can see Moyles covering Greg and maybe Scott as well.
Well, Grimmy was covering Scott's show and now Greg's for a few years, so why not? Dev will be involved in new Radio 1's schedule when Scott will leave, you'll see it. Cover shows formats should be as similar as it can be. For example you can't put Greg in for Moyles on breakfast, because Moyles doing zoo format, while Greg's doing solo. Dev's format is similar to Greg's (you know, silly things, much music and stuff). Chris' format is the most similar to Scott's, but really, do you think that they'll put Moyles on weekdays after they get rid of him from breakfast?
btw, sorry for my bad English, quite difficult sentences there.
-
If Moyles stays at Radio 1 I think we will definitely hear him in some covering capacity or Cooper is a bigger fool than he's already showing himself to be. If we're right in 2013 Coxy & Huw will have weekday slots. So by sheer necessity I think Moyles will do some cover. Greg covering Grimmy seems likely. I can't see charisma free Danny Howard becoming full time drive cover. So there is basically Dev, Gemma, and Moyles who are the cover options. I don't think Dev has been on daytime since Cooper took over and Gemma hasn't either.
He doesn't seem against the idea he jokingly offered to cover Fearne's show.
I don't think so. Grimmy's cover will be Greg, they'll put a girl (Gemma or Jameela) in for Sara Cox, Huw in for Scott, Dev in for Greg (and Tom Deacon on early breakfast in for Dev), and Phil or Matt (why not) in for Huw.

Schedule from September 24th:
mon-thu 22:00 Huw
weekends 13:00 Phil
sunday evenings 22:00 Tom Deacon (most likley) or Annie Mac
Schedule from early 2013's:
weekdays 10:00 Sara Cox
mon-thu 22:00 Huw
weekends 13:00 Phil
sundays 10:00 Moyles
sunday evenings 22:00 Tom Deacon (most likley) or Annie Mac
About Moyles, don't be silly, we'll never hear him again on weekdays. Anyway, Grimmy's replacement must be announced in a week time.
-
Heyyy. I'm not from UK. I can't tell where I am from, because I'm in a secret country (well, not really) in Eastern Europe (not Poland). Also, sorry about my poor English.
-
Get in! Coxy all the waaayyy! does anyone know how far along the cotton's pregnancy is?
2-3 months.
I don't really like Sara, but whatever... So, I think that Chris will be doing Sudnay breakfast. Sara probably will be leaving Radio 1 I guess when she will be finishing weekdays, and Chris will stay on old Sara's slot till 2014's when his contract will end.
-
Well, it will be quite strange to hear Vernon in weekday mornings alone. He's worst choice too, but Sara's on Radio 2, Scott's in Edinburgh, so nobody really left. Anyway, I'm looking forward to it, don't know why.
-
Chris Moyles? oh, cmon...
-
no idea, who's he?
-
I think that should be Jameela Jamil in for Gemma Cairney (who I still haven't had a chance to listen to yet..)
Good for you, she's awful...
Anyway, Tom Deacon is back!
-
It might be something to do with Tom Deacon being in Edinburgh for the fringe so unable to be the first choice cover host. I dont mind at all though, I find Tom Deacon quite unbearable to listen to!
But maybe he is going to become the new cover? Probably a lot more popular then Tom Deacon. Someone earlier suggested that Matt Edmondson might do the 10pm-12am slot - can you really see him presenting that kind of music?!
Well, Tom Deacon is just gone (yay!), Phil Taggart gets all the cover job in a past month.
-
Greg will be regular cover for breakfast show, you'll see it. I don't really think they'll use Coxy, Vernon, Moyles, Mills or other "old" presenters to cover shows, because Radio 1 obviously wants young and fresh presenters. I think Dev, Huw Stephens, Gemma will be involved in new schedule as new cover DJ's for daytime.
-
The simul-cast thing might be a bit chaotic, won't it? Because both DJs will have to stop at the same time...
Well, the're doing Newsbeat simulcasts on both stations at the weekends and that don't sound bad at all. Of course, it would be hard for Mills (because he's often doing news a few minutes later), but there would not be a problem for Fearne or Greg.
-
Well, it seems that the last Greg's show in 1-4 position was on Friday, 16th of March. Grimmy is covering him tomorrow and then Huw is in for him next week.
-
Wow, two days in a row! But what a shame, I can't listen to him now
-
It was quite messy, but also absolutely brilliant!
-
Why there is a different schedule for Friday?
-
Tom is good radio presenter and he's staying, that's obvious. But seriously, where's Adam Catterall? It would lovely if he would get a full daytime show at R1.
