In My Opinion, You divide everyone from Early Brakfast to Drivetime into 7, 150 minute slots.
So, 4-6.30 Dev
6.30-9.00 Moyles
9.00-11.30 Huw
11.30-2.00 Fearne (I'd Put Coxy Here and make it a proper 'lunchtime' slot
2.00-4.30 Greg
4.30-7.00 Scott
-
This is Very Misleading...
-
To be honest, I think it was more of a case of Dev being the only plausible Dj left standing if you think about it
Greg + Scott are in Newcastle doing Great North Run
Fearne is on Must Be The Music
Moyles would probably laugh at you if you asked him to do a weekend slot
Even Matt Edmonson was covering Edith
So they were left with Dev
-
Speech Debelle's reaction to her low score (33%?) was hilarious!
What Happenned?
-
I just heard Reggie covering this
I was impressed solely by the fact that Alex Gaudino got 26% is that the lowest ever review when the artist is actually in the studio but he managed to carry the show on without Mr Gaudino getting in a strop or anyhting
-
It was noted on a thread here that all daytime presenters in the week started at early breakfast so is Dev pretty much guarnteed a promotion or have any early breakfast hosts gone on to 'flop'and not really got anywhere?
-
I Know!!!
I'm listening to it now, it is very good, it is very melodramatic, give it a couple of listens though they're are loads of big hooks
I like illuminated and stay and of course wonderful life.
I also like the xx album but the Foals album just grabbed me a little more
Listen to Spanish Sahara (deadboy remix) it is immense (as is the original)
Also Alex Gardner's new song 'feeling fine' is worth a listen if you strain you memory you might remember him from 'I'm Not Mad' which was ok but this is much better
-
They've no choice but to play her now she's visiting despite snubbing her last two singles
-
I was more refering to her initial ambitions, it seems she is far more concerned with television etc and sees radio as a back up in a way, not that it matters that she began in tv its just even now when she has a major radio one slot she does still seem to prioritise her tv work.
I Totally Agree in the last 6 months she's missed six full weeks- thats a week a month, across the same period Dev has missed 0 weeks, speaks for itself really
Only Vernon can come close in terms of taking holiday
-
Vernon is hardly groundbreaking tho.... imo
-
I know this is a rather broad topic but I was surprised there weren't any threads about music. Considering that we're always discussing radio so I thought I'd start this. But to make it a little more Radio 1 orientated feel free to discuss the playlist aswell.
So To Get The Ball Rolling:
- I'm very happy that the Professor Green Ft Example song Monster has been added to the playlist
- I cannot wait for the Hurts album which is out on Monday
- Who are people backing for the Mercury Music Prize, perrsonally I love the Foals album
-
That's not at all what I meant... I know that she doesn't deserve the hate, but if she wasnt so bad it would help her.
This Made Me Laugh
But seriously on the topic of Fearne I totally agree with what KAT said..
Also if the four daytime slots are meant to be for your four best daytime presenters (so not including your Zane Lowes, Giles Petersons etc) then in my opinion she isn't in the top four. Scott-Yes, Chris (i'm not a fan but I can appreciate his merits)- Yes and Greg, In my opinion Yes but Fearne?
I prefer- Jo Whiley, the fantastic Sara Cox & if they were to transit into daytime, Huw, Grimmy & Annie Mac, I even prefer Nihal.
However she does have a genuine love for music which comes through in her show but I don't think as a dj she is natural, when Sara Cox covered the show was in a different league. But on the telly she is very good and on 'Must Be The Music' I like her and she doesn't even come across as patronsing like a lot of reality tv shows.
-
Edith usually covers for Grimmy and on the Review Show is she on holiday
or perhaps she's making way for matt edmonson at weekends...
-
When Was Scott On The Review Show?
-
Sara deserves the 10-1 slot she has been great these past three weeks and she is so genuinely funny and a bit quirky
-
I noticed that a feature was on about cheating on an online video game, which the name of evades me. Anyway someone said they did cheat and couldn't see what the fuss was about and were called Jono I was just wondering if this was Jono from UM?
-
Fearne's been great that the last two weeks
while coxy's been covering
-
Thank Goodness Edith's Not Covering
She was a terrible Listen when she covered for Nihal a few weeks back
I'm sure reggie will do well though
-
Ha Ha i feel this will be one-sided
-
Hurts For Me But love Chase + Status aswell
-
I'd forgotten just how good she is!!
-
I have a feeling that Edith could take over the Review Show as she has been covering it recently. It could be an easy way to free up the Weekend Breakfast slot. Nihal could then stick to the Asian show or do another show.
QUOTE]
Please don't let Edith near the review show again, Nihal is much better, Edith was stumbling through it, didn't spend enough time talking about the music and just was no good at it. I hope the review show stays with NIHAL, it is one of my favourite shows and it does attract some quite big names.
Also I would like to see either this year or next more Huw Stevens, he is great and i don't know why they don't use him more. Also like Andy George and Jaymo and have covered for Edith before and I'm not a massive fan of Edmonson so wouldn't mind them on weekend breakfast or Earlies. This is probably unlikely but I would love Max (1xtra) to move to radio 1 for me she would be an ideal replacement for Fearne....
I can Dream (sigh)
-
This is possibly my dream line-up !!!
-
Did anyone just hear greg introduce ellie's song
it made me laugh
he was introducing it and trying not to chuckle and was saying how it is his favourite song of the album although it sounds like a cat being dragged across the motorway

I don't understand why 'White Blank Page' by Mumford & Sons has been added even though it doesn't seem to be being released and Radio 1 snubbed their latests single 'Thistles and Weeds' I'm beginning to think that they only added it as some sort of clause in the contract for the Mumford & Sons and Friends night
