  1. Its not really news this- we all know Moyles will either go this or next year (or we presume the time might be about right). And we all know that Greg is destined for big things at the station. We all know that Scott, although he is easily the most natural successor, wont get breakfast permanently (maybe a short 8-10 months stint to fill a gap while they jiggle the schedule) as he is not the long term future.

I do think we all forget Grimmy though.

And finally, we have to remember that most presenters at the station have been there for a long time. When Moyles goes I think it will spark a year of changes with some other names following while the station tries to recreate its identity - its a normal process. Moyles, Scott, Zane, Pete Tong, Bowman.

Theres been some names who we all class as newcomers still who realistically have been on the fringes for a while waiting for this shake up - Grimmy, Huw, Reggie, Dev, Annie Mac, Kissy Sell Out, Tom Deacon & Matt Edmondson. These are the future names with Kissy & Annie Mac fronting specialist, Matt, Greg, Annie, Reggie, Grimmy on Daytime and Tom Huw & Dev weekends!

Interesting, I think Grimmy covering Scott and Reggie covering Greg could be a sign of things to come. I hope that Grimmy teams up with Annie Mac if he does move to daytime.

I hope they don't rush Greg onto breakfast they seemed to rush him to afternoons, Dev is developing well on Early Breakfast but if he was rushed onto daytime it would be bad. However they seemed to have stop Greg covering for Scott, I thought Drive would be Greg's next obvious destination so maybe they will rush him to breakfast. :(

Huw deserves more than his new weekend slot, it's a good start though, I'd love him on mornings in the live lounge or at 10 to replace Grimmy.

I wouldn't like to see Scott leave anytime soon if he does leave drive (not for 50 yrs at least!!) I think he ought to go on Weekends like Coxy is at the moment or a morning or afternoon slot. Also wouldn't like to see Zane leave but Kissy sell out is brilliant.

I'd like to add another name to the hat, Andy George + Jaymo are fantastic, I hope that being with Moyles will give them some exposure as they are fantastic and they had a good rapport with Chris whose discussed them on his own show. I rate them well over both Tom andd Matt and think they deserve Early/Weekend Breakfast.

A conundrum is Dev, I really like him but he seems to polarise opinion and they've seem to have given up letting him cover daytime. Weekends may be best for him. Oh and Vernon has to do one Asap

  2. Matt Edmondson in for Grimmy?! Oh gosh, help us all. He's not quite right for that slot, but I guess with Edith away and Nihal doing the shows either side there'd be no other option other than Tom Deacon. So I guess in that sense Matt was the right call..

I thought I'd misread the title he's hardly on the cutting edge of new music, surely Huw could have covered they seem to put him anywhere and everywhere?!

  3. It's an interesting read but it's from a biased point of view, it's NME and they love Indie. Obviously they'll want to have more of it.

I think what would be better is if Radio 1 try to turf out the rubbish just because it is from an established artists (I'm Looking at 'Dirty Bit')

The Playlist is quite good but do we need Kesha, Diddy Dirty Money, B.O.B and Nelly? If they just had a bit more quality control it opens up more space for four other acts e.g Chapel Club, Hadouken!, The Streets, Koudlam, Darwin Deez or The National

  4. He's underused, but you could say the same for Coxy herself, Huw Stephens and Matt Edmonson. There's a lot of competition for slots on Radio 1, which is why I'm surprised they persist with Edith Bowman who simply isn't as good as any of the above and Jo Whiley, who is a great radio presenter but for me sounds too old for Radio 1 now.

Edith's off and Jo, who I love, is appearing on all the Radio 2 adverts.

But huw needs to be used more and Nihal was quite a good listen today

  5. Contenders for Breakfast - Grimmy has to be the favourite who would also be my first choice and R1 seem to be grooming him for big things and his evening show is actually a must listen now (or even a Annie & Nick combo might be considered as the station direction becomes apparent), Reggie, or even Fearne to be honest based on her apparent popularity in the R1 board room. However outsiders at the station - Huw Stephens has a big following and I know he has introducing comitmnets but what better platform to expose introducing, Matt Edmondson and possibly Zane if he feels its a good move.

Other BBC stations - Lauren Laverne, Ronnie Herrel, Mista Jam, Shaun Keaveny and Richard Bacon is a bit Moyles Esque! Or how about Tom Ravenscroft at the station - that would be a big signing and his 6music show is really good - I can see him being snapped up soon!

Interesting though that William Hill have Russel Brand at 25/1 to take over from Chris! Comedy Dave is also at 25/1 at Aled is 100/1.

I Think Shaun Keaveny is fantastic. Also on 6Music Huey Morgan has been very good covering for Lauren but probably wouldn't be appropiate for breakfast. But do Radio 1 take people from other BBC stations bar 1xtra

I would prefer Huw to get Grimmy's evening show where he gets to choose the music as I do love it when he covers for Zane.

There isn't much love for Dev but I thought he was quite good covering Greg last week so he'll surely be in line for a move. (not to breakfast though)

However you can't look past Greg surely from Radio 1 but a move to Drive does seem sensible.
