so it's only really going to be the Switch brand name that's gonna actually die, they do seem to be keeping a lot of elements of it.
The TV side is probably the most at risk from being scrapped completely. Some of the web stuff could be pulled back under the R1 brand. I suppose it works that some of the Switch stuff lives, particularly the R1 stuff, because it does come under the audience/remit.
-
Asian Network still could be closed (but the BBC must find other ways of reaching the audience lost there) - BBC Blast to be closed too - BBC Switch is a decision that lies with the BBC, not the BBC Trust: "The Trust’s approval for the closure of Switch is not anticipated to be needed, as this is not a BBC service but a branded zone of programming.".
-
I wonder if they'll link them - I think they were added to the Programmes system for R4 to replicate their old schedule page? It's a nice one though.
-
i swear the Newsbeat homepage hasn't changed in years. It's getting a bit old now.
Web team will be very limited in what they can do - it's on a separate server and is part of BBC News technically.
-
It's not just the homepage:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/dance/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/rockindie/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/hiphoprnb/
Very big focus on tracklistings. Oh, and they've dropped Daytime as a form of navigation. Can't think why.
Homepage reminds me of Apple with the different options in Videos / Chart / Best Bits etc. The choice of fonts and icons are also bringing in the BBC's new visual language... (see play icons over videos and audio icons) - also, use of Helvetica.
However, the /dance/ pages seem to use a different visual style - using the R1 font. Lack of borders on those is also nice - it sort of looks like there's 2 styles slightly at conflict. Could just be trying two out, they both incorporate elements of the Global Visual Language. Personally, I prefer the genre pages.
This is me being anal though, I like the changes. And I'm sure the web team know more about GVL and the rollout compared to me, so we'll see more changes at some point.
I predict we'll see a carousel like http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2010/ on the homepage at some time.

Today's jingle said that hopefully Chris will have his contract signed by Friday.
Chris: "Might need a resing of that for Monday"
-
I predict they'll have made 2 or 3 "call in with your request" or "text in with your request" voiceovers, play them way too many times in the three hours, with it being back to back tracks with the occasional recorded off-air "HI I'M BECKY FROM PLACE AND I LOVVVVVVVVEEEEE [radio 1 playlist track] SO IF YOU COULD PLAY THAT THAT WOULD BE GREAT" going straight in to a track.
-
The episode data seems to hint they'll be trying a request show without anyone presenting it. Some may say that would be improvement.
-
They should put it on radio one instead of Reggie blabbering.
And then "99 problems" plays.
-
Westwood on Radio 3? Interesting.
-
I wonder if they killed off one of the two panorama cams it'd free up a bit more bandwidth on site - it's obviously tight.

"I think there's sixteen screens where you can see the coverage"
Not convinced Jo Whiley's been online!
They claim they have 16 streams to choose from to stick on the 6 playouts, but if you look at the picture Moyles points to, that includes BBC Three output (why didn't they use that last night?), a VT player, and 2 emergency slides.
-
It's funny as the crowd have decided not to sing along with Pixie Lott, but in their own time.
-
This interview with Justin is hilarious.
Surprised at the poor bitrate on the streaming... Surely it should be getting better year by year, not worse.Well, live audio from stages is technically better.
I suppose the problem is bandwidth from the venue to BBC servers.
-
Main Stage Cam 2 is now the Live Lounge with Example!
How odd. I was wondering why it wasn't showing on "Jo Whiley" cam.
And they fixed the names. I don't envy the job of the R1 online team, must be crazy.
-
Sound is odd right now. Main Stage Camera 2 has so much better audio than Main Stage 1. tong vs Vernon is messing up. Still, ambitious and impressive live coverage.

I've been told the lineups are actually announced at 7:15. Half an hour after tickets go on sale, I know, odd.
-
Well then that means you'll end up with 2 shows not as good as they could be, going off the air and going on again in an hour. And Asian Network is based in TVC? I might be wrong on that, but I remember him tweeting about being there.
-
I fail to be surprised that Viv watches Live from Studio Five.

I got 8 points on Stonehenge. I love this game.
I'M AT THE POST OFFICE!!!!!

Horrah, you get to meet Barry. We all love Barry.

Wouldn't it be funny if Jono posted the press release of the announcement of who she is?
...oh, yeah, yeah he did.

When Jaguar played some Parappa during his games mix that was amazing.
A Diamond Life For Moyles!!

This morning was brilliant - Marina got the show really well and the "Chris flirting" wasn't awkward, but hilarious. Hopefully she's on the show again in the future.
One bit I really liked was Chris going "What do you want, the moon on a stick?!" and Dave just said as a side comment, "It's quite nice, it's a Wetherspoons now".
