Happy Birthday :)

David Hooper's Disgusting Electronica is always a treat on a bank holiday. Seems to be a new one too. It's great how radio1 let him take the piss out of them
"We love radio 1" "F off"

Yeah, and even IF she IS very irritating, why the hell would you text in nasty messages? Seems sad more than anything. Sure, tell your mates that you think she's shit, even post it on a message board . But to text in nasty messages, really? G.A.L

Also the Sara has lost the zelebrity / partying all night aspect of her on air personality that people disliked when she did Brekkie. A personality that is somewhat, although not as strongly, being displayed by Cotton in her current slot. The party (not sure when, her b.day? or Crimbo?) she had, and made an on-air feature of, is an example.

Actually it is illegal. Soz didnt go into detail. They do do all of that. Trust me, its a bad place. They do tatoos on under 16s too. :s
Dont want to get into an argument over something trivial but
from www.nhs.ukIn England and Wales there is no statutory age limit for cosmetic piercing.Under English law, people under 16 cannot have their genitals pierced, as this is regarded as indecent assault to which the customer cannot legally consent.
This same law applies to female breast piercings. Boys under 16 can have their nipples pierced.

Theres a place where i live that do peircings without parental consent to under 16s. Which is illegal. But thats cos i live in chav city... (although i dont live in a city) anyways, you'll have to ask your Mum, Annalie. they need to be there to sign this form thingy, and then you can get it done. i wanted that too but i decided it was too chavvy and common. like getting your belly button peirced. how much is the ear stud over there then? here its only four pounds, but thats at the illegal place. Watch you go to a place with a good rep becos u could get an infection from those mingin places cos half of them dont clean the needles.. ugh lol
No it's not. It's only illegal if they want 'sensitive' parts piereced. Whilst you don't need your parents' consent to get another piercing on your ear I would recommend talking to them first anyway. Also, obviously go to a clean, legal place that doesn't look dodgy.

I hate being horrible, buuut Sarah Millican looks like she's having a tiring festival

Scott will be appearing on a special edition of the radio 4 panel show recorded at the Edinburgh fringe. The show will air 18:30 on either the 23rd or the 30th of August. Should be good

A film, staring Maaaaaaat Damon.
Sadly, I brought this in HMV the other day, to make sure I knew what was going on. Bargain though £6 for a blu-ray disk

Lorraine Kelly's dance music alter ego?
-
good Chris Evans is rubbish.
i would like to know how i can take part in this, because i don't think for one minute that it is representative of the real listeners.
You just randomly get a knock on the door....

That's very high, well done!

That's great! Glad to see her getting recognition for being the legend that she is! Might get a few friends round and make it an Annie party :L

New Job?
In the OP and on her Myspace page she mentions that she's taken a full time job at Sheffield Uni mentoring students at their radio station, tv station and student newspaper.
Yesterday i resigned from BBC Radio1, after an amazing multi-dimensional 14 year career. The great freedoms the BBC have given in me as a broadcaster, have allowed me to help break so many confrontational artists as diverse as Slipknot and Skream, and of course, the whole genre of Dubstep in recent times.
My current Experimental show is in peak condition, it’s never been stronger. And although it’s a very emotional decision to leave the show that I love so much, it’s also an optimum moment to bow out, at the very top of my game.
My work for Radio1 on the Breezeblock, Rock Show, many fascinating documentaries about everything from David Bowie to Dubstep, on daytime, at festivals and award ceremonies, has been exceptionally rewarding. These have been glory days not just for me, but for all the artists who have shared my BBC platform, and of course, the listeners everywhere from Beijing to Berlin, Baltimore to Blackpool, who shared a great passion for future sound.
I will continue to DJ live, work in film, and curate at Sonar festival in Barcelona.
I have also accepted a new job mentoring and teaching students at the University of Sheffield’s Union Of Students radio station, TV station and the newspaper that operate out of their superb Forge Media Hub, which presents me with a really exciting new challenge.
My last show on BBC Radio1 will be broadcast:
September 8th>>9th … Wednesday night >> Thursday morning… 2-4am

Thank you so much for listening..

Seems to me like she left to concentrate on her new job, no?

Think:
Matt Edmundson moves to Early Breakfast.
Dev gets weekend Breakfast.
Sara Cox takes over Vernon Kay and the Lie In.
Edith to 6Music to cover Lauren laverne's maternity?? Wouldnt be particuarly surprising. Edith would thrive on 6music- Cerys Matthews cant do the maternity cover this time round. Lavernes baby is also expected in Oct so the timing is perfect.....
I thought that actually, although I think I'd prefer Jo Whiley or Cerys she was excellent covering Nemone who's the big weak link in the 6music schedule imo.
-
That would be nice. I would prefer Sara over Vernon on the 10am slot but I don't know where Vernon would go instead
I think Vern would be great on Friday drive, he loves his dance music and Wonder Years is a bit like the lie-in. This could free up Scott to do the chart full time too.

Annie Nightingale Facebooked this yesterday
Exclusive news! Big project for Radio 1 in Sept. Keep it locked and watch this space. No idea what. Sounds good, I've always said that Radio1 underuse the legend! Could it be something to do with birthday celebrations or maybe the return of the request show? Since Switch is being phased out and all that.

Yesterday was the first time I heard Matt Edmondson for any significant length of time and my god is he terrible. He has no wit whatsoever, no personality, no broadcasting talent and a total inability to think on his feet.
The bit where he hooked up a caller with Roy from Scouting For Girls made me cringe. I seriously cannot see this guy being on R1 this time next year. If he is the R1 execs may as well hold their hands up and give up.
I agree and hope you're right. He's not bad on the webshow he does, or with Fearne but on his own, he's really bad, makes Cotton look like a radio genius.
-
Nice to see Fake Blood on the playlist, also agree with John about Mars. All the way to the A list I hopes!
-
Congrats Jono! Looks very 90's Although, at the same time very Scott
-
Yes, her boyf's band will be there, so she probably will be.... I think I read recently she was looking forward to going to Glastonbury!!
She's off today as well incidentally - boo :-(
She's presenting BBC3 isn't she?
-
He was so young Incredibly sad r.i.p
-
Axing Switch is an odd decision tbh, I'm not really a fan of their material (I don't tune in to the tv/radio to be patronised!) but surely either
A) It will stay in all but name
or
In a few years time people, as they did 3 years ago, will moan that the BBC don't cater well enough for 12-17 year olds and another Switch esque brand will be launched.
Btw, anyone else think Tom Deacon, despite being lumbered with the awful remit/format of the Switch show, is actually pretty good at radio? Much better than Edmondson and Dev imo.
