  1. Unlike cxx666 i am NOT a proud brit. i feel quite embarassed to be in the uk.

We couldn't be more opposite on this one, I don't assosciate myself with scotland. I was born in Edinburgh but I take great offence to being called scottish and always correct people if this happens. I'm in a very lucky position where I am able to describe myself as either scottish or British and I choose the latter.

The thing I find very concerning about all of this is that the seperatists are meant to be campaigning to convince people this is a good idea, yet it seems to be that the ones who are anti independence are having to point out all the problems it could cause, the huge expenses, how things like defence and the like are handled, even what would happen with currency. I don't pretend to know all the answers, but I see no reason why things can't just stay as they are and let everyone get on with trying to come out of recession. I genuinely believe a lot of this has about because of this pathetic anti-English mentality we have here, I've seen it for years and its nothing short of a ridiculous chip on certain people's shoulders. You can call yourself scottish if you wish, but that doesn't mean Great Britain/UK has to be ripped up. I like the idea that I am able to roam free around the UK as and when I like, I don't want this to be taken away from me either.

On a positive note, I'm good friends with an SNP voter who has said that while he likes the idea and doesnt identify himself as British, he will be voting no as he doesnt think its in anyones best interests. I can only hope that more people think like this and Salmond and his vermin don't manage to brainwash people into thinking this is actually a positive thing.

  2. Found out later on last night that HAMPDEN football stadium has been instructed to take down the Scottish flag for certain games during the Olympics. OUTRAGEOUS. The sooner us Scots get independence, the better !!

I shall return shortly with a link. **

** In fact, actually I shall create a topic out of it.

I can see you and me meeting up for a full on fist fight shortly ;)

  3. Went to the cinema yesterday morning only to discover that was where this indepence crap was being launched. I came out of the film and my brother pointed out that salmond was upstairs being interviewed by tv people. Oh how I wish I'd had a gun.......

  4. When i went to the fringe to see mills a couple of years ago, trams were sitting on princess street, near the floral clock section. must have taken them away again, then.

Oh how little you know. All of those tram tracks that everything was happily driving up and down were all taken up again back in September and relaid, I presume it wasn't done properly the first time round. Not entirely sure when the tram disappeared but the street has been a glorified building site for the last 9 months.

Considering becoming a nun as I'm clearly not meant to have a boyfriend.

If its any consolation my love life has been said, 2 years have now passed since I last got anything more than a kiss lol

  5. I saw that in the letters page, had me a bit confused as I don't understand the connection or relevance. The trams thing is an absolute joke, clearly been done by 2 different lots of workers, I shall explain.

The city center is a shambles, the main roads (Princess Street, Shandwick Place, Haymarket) are giant holes at the moment, even after it looked like they had finished with PS I'm pretty sure they're still digging bits of it up and doing it all over again. I don't know about the middle part of the route as I don't live there and nothing I drive at work currently goes in that direction. However out by Gogarburn it seems they've actually got their act together and it looks like it could be very close to a functioning depot, but obviously it won't be untill they've got it all finished. They even have trams sat on the tracks out there! The only thing sitting on the tracks elsewhere is diggers.

  6. The main surprise is they still continue to make this program. Ok so its got a lot of history for the BBC but lets be honest, how many kids are even remotely interested in the history of a tv program?

I can't remember where I saw this before but it summed it up perfectly. The problem with Blue Peter is it is education disguised as fun. I didnt have much time for it as a child simply because I thought it was very twee and I wanted something which was purely entertaining or fun.

  7. well I've had my heart set on a 50" in a place of my own for quite a while and now I've seen it and I can afford it. I'm thinking I'll need to get myself along to the van hire place tomorrow morning and hope its still in the shop when I get there.

  8. Found the new tv I want, seems like a good price as well so I went to buy it yesterday only for the guy in the shop to tell me it wouldn't fit in my car. Now faced with the decision of whether I should go for the delivery option, potentially spending all day stuck in the house on my week off, hiring a van (bit OTT) to go and get it tomorrow, or whether I really want to be buying it at all.

  9. Just to clarify, this woman is/was "white" yes?

Tanning is a debatable issue. I like a tan on a girl, those who say that tanned is bad and that pale is nicer are all wrong. If done right it can make an average woman look a lot better. I imagine for the ladies, and also men who are that way inclined, that a tanned man looks much nicer than a pale one as well . However there are those who take it to extremes (sunbeds constantly), or those who don't do it right (fake tan)

  10. I was gutted he didn't play the Edinburgh festival this year, trust me if he's doing it this year I'm there!

Look up a guy on YouTube called Paul Zerding he amazing saw him at Leicester comedy festival last year

Funny guy, but the best ventriloquist around at the moment I think has to be Jeff Dunham.

  12. Funnily enough I've heard something about the hanky thing before, didnt really remember anything about it though. I still think something needs to be done to combat this chatting up problem though.

Sounds like something off the Nazis....

clearly they teach a different kind of history these days, in my day it was all about how they went about killing and taking over etc, nothing whatsoever to do with people dating ;)

  13. We've all at some point had our eye on someone who it turns out is either taken or not playing for the same team as we do. This happened last night when I was ouy for a friens birthday and was hoping to chat with a friend of a friend and see if it went anywhere, we've known eachother a while but never really see eachother so I saw no harm in trying. Anyways I conceeded defeat when someone asked her where her boyfriend was as there was no point in hoping it would go any further than just a conversation.

This reminded me of a very simple wristband type system I co-created last summer to help identify those who are available. Consisting of 6 colours (3 for relationship status, and 3 for sexuality), the wearer would choose one of each, or perhaps only one as I shall now explain.

Red, orange and green. These indicate their availabilty to others. Green - single and open to the idea of being chatted up. Orange - open relationship but still wouldn't refuse a bit of attention from others. Red - in a relationship or otherwise not interested in anyone chatting them up at all.

Pink, blue and purple. These indicate sexuality. Pink - an interest in guys, while pink would probably be assosciated with an interest in females it can also be seen as a bit of a gay colour and the idea of using it to attract female attention seems a bit odd in my opinion. Blue - an interest in girls. Purple - an interest in both.

Personally I think this is a great idea, and although it wouldn't stop the type of people that are drawn to those who are in a relationship it would definitly go some way to helping to limit it.
