  1. I don't bother counting it, if it looks right thats all I'm interested in. The difference between us though is that I can't be held accountable for a vault being short as there could be many different people driving that day, and there is a good chance there will be vaults that are over so they balance eachother out.

I so nearly got into an argument with a gobby waste of space yesterday over a ticket. She gets on clearly dressed for a night out and claims shes lost her child day ticket (she is clearly underage so I wasn't disputing the child element). I say no fare no travel etc etc but she is adamant she isn't getting off so in the end I told her to go sit down but refused point blank to give a replacement ticket (only let her on cos I knew if I radioed up for assistance regarding a child I'd be told just to let her on to avoid hassle) but she really angered me so not only did I tell my relief not to give her a replacement under any circumstances, but I also went and told another driver at the hospital not to do so either after I spotted her up there a short while later.

  2. Good enough idea in principle, but then why should us passengers have to buy things from shops, just especially to have change!! :hahaha:

Nobody says you have to do that, you could always just go to the bank and get change once in a while ;)

I didn't know you were a bus driver cxx. I don't use the bus much.

To look at me you wouldn't think it. When I've been in casual clothes and putting my staff pass on the machine, I've had a couple of strange looks from the other driver.

  3. I surprised myself the first time I described him, but if you watch the repeats of MTW on Dave you'll definitly see a change in his stuff. He was always dark, but a few years back I think there was more care put into being funny whereas in the more recent episodes he's heading more towards just trying to be controversiol. I also think its the same jokes that seem to appear on his tv and dvd work. Granted when you do a lot of tv work some of it is bound to be repeated but there are other comics out there who manage to mix it up a bit.

  4. I had no change twice on one week (I think buses should have change) and she nearly had a breakdown - informed me I had dared come on the bus twice in the one week with notes.

I like the no change policy, it not only protects the drivers from accusations of theft but it also means there is almost zero chance of someone trying to come on board and rob us. I never know how much is in the vault on board but I imagine its several hundred pounds. I wouldn't feel too safe going certain places knowing I had that much beside my left leg.

There is a simple answer to the notes problem, and its one I would say to anyone. Just make sure you have enough change for bus fares before planning on going somewhere ;)

  5. being angry comes with the job though, some of us just manage to control or hide our anger. I got shitty with someone for the first time yesterday, I felt so proud :D To be fair though, I was running late and she was taking so long with her peasant offspring in the buggy that I actually didn't realise there was still someone wanting off, so when I closed the doors and pulled away she moaned and I snapped back at her.

  6. Frankie Boyle is amazing. I really want to go and see his tour.

I'd be wary, check out his DVDs first if you havent already. I wanted to go and see his "final" tour a couple years back but after seeing his second DVD I'm glad I didn't even part with money to see that, let alone the expense and effort of seeing him live.

I know someones pleasure is anothers poison but for me he went downhill very fast. Doubtful he's returned to his standard of a few years back, some of the older episodes of Mock The Week he's absolutely fantastic in.

  7. I think the results are going up because more and more people are actually revising and working at passing than ever before. Not due to them getting easier.

I think its a combination of both. To be honest though I'm not convinced in the relevence of exams anyway. Ok they look good on an initial CV but experience/willingness is what really counts and for all you know you could end up doing a job that has sweet f a to do with what you did at school/college. I bet not many people on my bus would think the driver has an A in Higher Physics, and just because I have it doesnt mean I remember any of it either.

In a roundabout way what it also means is that even if your results aren't great you could still end up earning pretty good money later in life.

  8. Its a bit boring on the radio because its fairly visual, but considering this is a once in a lifetime thing for pretty mcuh anyone I can't exactly blame them for giving it coverage.

I was working last night so I missed everything that was going on in town for it, gutted.

  9. I saw a whole row of cars with their wipers all in the air and some with cones placed on them.

The cones thing is pretty common actually, if I'm working early at the weekend I often see cars in town that have had this done to them. Usually happens on George Street which is a bit poncey and up itself, so make of that what you will.....

  10. It's like the BBC read my mind on how to make the perfect F1 coverage that I would enjoy most (not that Sky's coverage is impressing me anyways, only advantage I see is that it's live, but in live-vs-live I'll always choose BBC).

I have nothing against Martin Brundle at all, but Ben Edwards has made it way more enjoyable for me when I've been able to see it this season. I really miss his commentary on the BTCC but I guess we can't have everything.

  11. Got a new person to come and stay in the house with me, the cirsumstances that have lead to it arent great but it works out well for both of us so best just to make the most of it.

Should all be sorted out in the next couple of weeks, although no doubt I'll get all sorts of raised eyebrows when I say that it will be a female living with me now.

  12. With regards to this nonsense about getting a job elsewhere, for the record I actually like my job. It just so happens that when working with hundreds of different people on a daily basis you will invariably come across some infruriating stupidity which is often what the moans about. That and the fact that as Dara O'Briain said when I went to see him last week, Edinburgh loves roadworks so much it has decided to turn itself into a living museum to them.

Now with regards to you seeing "the ramblings, and someone on the verge of throwing a pile of mud balls", check your PM.

  13. U always have to post something ridiculous.

No Viv, doovde isn't posting anything ridiculous here. He is merely pointing out that just because you live in a certain place/area that doesnt mean you should instantly feel a sense of pride or love for the place, or even feel obliged to.

You asked why I am still in town, and the answer is simple. I grew up here, I have friends here and my job is very much Edinburgh based. I don't see why, even going by your bizarre mentality, I should have to leave just because I do not identify myself as scottish. Out of curiosity where do you think I should go?

I, like others too I imagine, am getting somewhat bored of your braveheart induced postings. I am asking this completely seriously, but do you not have something better to do than come on here posting all this stuff and frankly arguing with someone who simply doesnt share your apparent national pride? I'm not saying your not entitled to your opinion but UM does not need an snp correspondent, nor does it need one for any other political party or their policies.

  14. Not liking the bank holidays, but thats because I detest bank/public holidays with an absolute passion regardless of the reason for them.

Quite surprised about it all to be honest, I saw a sign up on the outskirts of the city to do with a parade presumably over the weekend, I was driving at the time though so couldn't read it. I honestly thought there wouldnt be much acknowledgement of it outside of London.
