  1. im willing to bet that most people from Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland call themselves Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish, Irish, very few will call themselves British.

The problem is that the terms British and English are interchanged that much that a lot of people think they are the same thing. I have put Im british before and been asked where in England Im from.

  2. so what good will the EU do for England then ???

all i can see is that everyone's voice has got smaller & less important.

the EU cannot decide on where to have it's Parliament.

the EU stood by & watched the Balkan war from the sidelines until the USA decided something should be done.

the EU still gives 35% of it's budget to farmers.

the EU won't have anymore relevance in geo-politics because it's irreverent as it is to fragmented due to it's citizens national identity's, eight hundred million people with hundreds even thousands of years of traditional values, beliefs & identity's cannot be expressed with one voice, the compromises needed to be made are to great.

i haven't seen/read anything that i think will make England a better place, to live & work, all i can see is more rules, laws, interfering, red-tape, politics, more money wasted.

even the most pro-EU politicians push their national views first, as i said above, that MEP in the video doesn't actually do anything, its a none-job as far as i am concerned, because what he does feels irrelevant to me, even though i know they make laws that i have to abide by, i have no actual say in what goes on.

the EU is always going on about how it holds 'democracy' i the highest regard, however the way it comes across is more socialist (very) & communist in the way it goes about things, it feels far to distant & i'm not sure the EU has done anything to affect my life in a good way, or in any way good or bad.

i think you seem to see me as anti-EU, of course i want what is best for the UK, but i cannot see anything good coming from getting deeper into the EU, if i could see any positives i would promote them.

don't let me put you off from taking part :)

your views are just as important as everyone else's.

it may have got out of hand, & i may have gone over the top but i feel strongly about this, because it seems that everything that the British people have done over hundreds of years is being given away to cheaply to people who don't care & have had a dislike of the UK for many years & also that my voice is slowly being silenced, maybe the EU will be good for the UK & i will be proved wrong & if i am i will freely admit it, however is it wrong that i argue against the EU ?

the EU charter on Human rights, gives me the right to choose.

England and the UK are NOT the same country. England is PART of the UK but is not the UK. Would you please remember this Alan or would you rather all the non-English members of the forum left? Im am getting very fed up of being classed as English because a stupid eejit cannot distinguish the difference. I am sorry but a lot of English people seem to think that the UK is made due to them and this is not the case. If it were it would be called England and not the UK.

  3. they now have their own parliaments, because Labour wants decisions more local & relevant & to get local people feel they have more say over what goes on, seems ironic on two fronts, a Scottish PM wants to continue to split up the union & give more power away so people feel even further away from the decisions tat get made.

Although they have their own parliaments the major decisions still get made by the British government and these are the ones that the EU would be likely to make decisions about, and although a Scottish MP wants independence I think you will find that the support for this is not as high as people think it is.

  4. well it seems that its all over with now :(

no say in how we are ruled by un-elected officials far removed from reality & taxation without representation.

going to write to, Brown, Cameron & Clegg & ask they what exactly is the point in voting for any of their parties MP's as they now have no power what so ever as EU law will continue to erode & will soon override English law.

What about the Scots Irish and Welsh?? Please remember its not just England in the UK.

  5. You mean, after your latest batch of cocaine showed up in the post, you noticed??

    :D:D;)

Viv would you stop being so aggressive and having a go at people? you posted a link that doesn't exist there is no need to then accuse Mitchell if taking drugs.

  6. much sooner if they put the money into it.

The problem they have at the moment is that it takes more energy to cause the fusion than they get out of it. Its not a case of throw more money at it and it'll be ready quicker its a case of working out how to get the same results with less initial energy - a very difficult idea.

As for antimatter energy they have yet to even prove antimatter exists - it is a theoretical particle whos existence has not been measured so until they find it they can't produce energy with it.

Nuclear power is a good energy source but again they need to work out a way of storing the waste. It produces vastly more energy than coal and there is enough uranium on the earth to last us for a fair few hundreds if not thousands of years.

  7. Does it not also have to do with how someone pronounces a word as well as some people pronounce words differently to others. eg sour can be pronounces to sound like tour or south (i have heard people use the second one before I get shouted at by anyone).

  8. This could kinda go ion both this and the what sucks thread but the rocks part is better so it can go here. I phoned SAAS this morning and have finally got my student loan and bursary sorted out so will have money soon. On the other hand it took an hour on a mobile to an 0845 number so Im dreading my phone bill this month.

  9. Alfred Nobel,

Alfred Bernhard Nobel (Stockholm, Sweden, 21 October 1833 – Sanremo, Italy, 10 December 1896) was a Swedish chemist, engineer, innovator, armaments manufacturer and the inventor of dynamite. He owned Bofors, a major armaments manufacturer, which he had redirected from its previous role as an iron and steel mill. In his last will, he used his enormous fortune to institute the Nobel Prizes. The synthetic element nobelium was named after him.

The nobel prizes is not just for peace. There are a fair few including physics so the fact that he invented a type of explosive has nothing to do with anything. The peace prize (I think) was a later addition to the sciences prizes by someone else (although Im not 100% sure on this).

  10. Second day of eating actual meals again \o/

Also, I have a Pingu that moop moops when you squeeze his tummy for my Geek is awesome and bought me him when I was ill :D It is possibly my favourite thing ever at the minute.

Thats good to hear Bumbles. And the pingu sounds awesome.

  11. OK so basically my boyfriends mum wants to buy herself a new digital camera and we don't know what make would be the best for her so any suggestions would be appreciated. The camera must have a high shutter speed and be suitable for taking pictures of fast moving animals and be suitable for someone with shaky hands. It would also be appreciated if the camera is lightweight and doesn't eat batteries. If anyone can recommend one it would be great. Thanks :)

  12. The boy has laryngitis and has done for two weeks now. Everytime he gets better it only lasts for about a day and then his voice goes completely again. He has finally been given antibiotics from the doctor so hopefully this will work but its getting him really down as he hasn't been able to talk properly for a fortnight.

  13. My best friend from home is coming up today and staying for the weekend and it's her birthday tomorrow. Haven't seen her for ages as even when i was home I was working every day and even when I had days off I was getting called in to work so we never got a chance to meet up.

  14. The results of my resits were given incorrectly so instead of failing two and having to drop out I've actuall only failed one and have just matriculated to go into third year and carry the one module over to resit this year. Am soo hyper at the moment it's unbelieveable.
