  1. I prefer the system which the Scottish unis operate, which is why they're top of the list. In picking unis I've tried to balance the quality of the course against how far away from home I can get - no prizes for guessing why I'd sell a kidney to go to St Andrews.

  2. I think you will find I do know something about it- I hope so given the fact I'm studying politics at one of the best universities in the world.

I just find the tone of the posts offputting.

From what some of you have said previously, I hope to god you remain

    Apathetic.

On a personal, rather nosy note, what uni are you at? :)

well i would be honest for a start if i was PM or a MP for that matter

But don't forget, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

As a politics student, I should probably be a lot more opinionated than I am, but I tend to find that remaining fairly neutral lets me appreciate both sides of the argument. I personally view Europe as a neccessary evil, but I can't be doing with all the hyperbole about how they're going to take over!!!!!! etc

  3. Hello everyone, remember me?

I was just talking to Fraser and we were saying how quite a few UMers are currently in the process of applying to go to university next year, so I thought I'd create a little thread for us all to moan and celebrate and stuff. :)

I'll get the ball rolling, I'm applying for International Relations (or variants) at (in order of preference):

    St Andrews (acknowledged)

    Edinburgh (acknowledged)

    Aberystwyth (offer - 270 points)

    Bath

    Southampton (offer - ABB)

I sent off my application about six weeks ago and it was processed at the beginning of November.

(Jono: sorry if there's something similar out there, please still love me ;))

  4. Worked Saturday night on a club night (which I hate) but it started late so I got sent down to work the gig downstairs which ended up being Skindred, and I managed to see the first ten minutes of their set crystal clear from the bar. Not a bad start to the night at all.

Ooh, I hear they're good, I know someone who's friends with them. :)

What rocks? I bought new stationery!

  5. Thanks everyone - sorry if you experienced any dead air at the beginning, we were in a remote studio and it just went silent instead of handing over to us. Cue 3 seconds of blind panic just to keep us on our toes. Any feedback for next week would be greatly appreciated, and we've already figured out that the music bed was way too loud.

However, for the first time a student has ever driven a desk, with only a few hours practice, we're all really proud of our "technical director". :)

  6. Shameless plug alert!

I'm going to be doing a radio show with three people from college (one of whom is Sam's girlyfriend) for four weeks from this Thursday, 2-3pm, and I really want you geeks listening and getting in touch! There'll be some live music too. :)

If you're in the the South Hampshire area you can listen on 101.1 FM, and everyone else can listen online at www.unity101.org :). We're also contactable at @Achieve_BP on twitter - and we'll read out tweets on the show.

[/shameless plug from old school geek]

PS, I know loads of you are involved with radio, so any tips are greatly appreciated. Wish me luck!

PPS Hi Jono, sorry to be a pain. Love you long time xx
