  1. Hi all, new member and International Listener from Pennsylvania, USA... love Radio 1 over here, because commercial radio in the states STINKS.

    Welcome Along!

I agree, commercial radio is pretty limited here, Radio 1 isn't really classified as it though, but the radio in the UK seems to be a lot better here. I at least have noticed there's not five minutes of adverts like on my local stations.

  2. The show doesn't need to be pushed up to four hours, at least don't have it begin at 6 AM. Greg hardly has enough to go through his show, why give him less time? I guess for the most part, all the DJs will be going on about their shows getting shorter, so how about cutting out one of the double Entertainment News (preferably the one at the end of Jo's show). That way Chris can get more time (if it happens) and Jo can have that extra time for her show.

  3. I'd rather have actually heard more from the Electric Proms rather than the equivalent of a 'Radio 1 presents Oasis' which is all it seems to be. There's a special show tomorrow night but it seems all the other bands have been pushed aside for this, and they will only focus on the indie side of stuff.

It seemed a bit pointless putting Grimmy and Annie on late when the kids will be in bed, anyway.

Well, yeah, me too. I remember three years ago the coverage was brilliant. I remember we were hearing The Good, The Bad, and The Queen's material for the first time and they kept having to stop and start singing again. They were like "Oh, but now you can sing along now!", it was a very good listen, cheered me up when I was sitting there ill in bed.

They've been putting a lot of the material on the shows before Early Breakfast, I think it would have been great if they just had them all live as I would have liked to listen to Burt Bacharach. The thing is, maybe a lot of this wouldn't suit the Radio 1 audience.

But Oasis have been particularly always on Radio 1, even Noel did that whole Established 1967 thing and when Stop The Clocks came out, he did that Live Lounge. He has a whole history of being friends with Jo Whiley and I bet if she wasn't off having a baby, she'd be doing their introduction. I guess they shouldn't be calling it their own thing, but it's not like they're not doing commentary and everything between it.

And yeah, I agree, there wasn't a need to have them on that late.

  4. I dunno, From what i can gather though, Colin is live with the Oasis Gig, then i guess he's just going to do his own think when the gig finishes until midnight.

To be honest, i think it would have been far better to Record the whole Gig and Broadcast it tomorrow night... Radio 1 aren't exactly gaining anything by broadcasting it live.

Actually, everyone on the Oasis forums are talking about it, everyone's going to be listening in and of course recording it. We're all really excited out it, Radio 1 wouldn't be putting it out there if it wasn't a big deal. Plus, I think I've heard that they might be playing tracks from all the gigs next week. You have to remember that they just sold out every single gig they're holding next year, and they've had to add extra tickets and most of those sold out aswell.

It's going to be delayed, but you know, who doesn't know Oasis? I'm sorry, but you'll probably more daft than me! People should know already that there'll be swearing. It isn't like The Surgery isn't a bit... erm... at times, this is different. Noel at least understands the BBC rules, he doesn't swear on Russell's show.

  5. Has Radio 1 changed the schedule at the last minute? I'm looking at What's On at the moment and the extra hour of Switch seems to have been taken off. I know people were complaining that Radio 1 weren't going to play the full two hours of the Oasis gig, did they give in at the end du to demands? Or did Annie and Nick think that they needed to be doing an extra hour?

  6. I don't buy clothes or bags at charity shops. Clothes, because I can get a better deal on newer ones for the most part, and just the fact that they've probably been in a box for awhile. I don't buy bags because it's just very unhygienic. the bottom touches bathrooms, buses, and where everyone sits. You just don't know where people have been, you know, if I told you I was touching a human heart the other day and put my purse down next to the tray and offered you it the next day after touching it, would you take it?

Charity shops are for nice stuff like shelves and figurines, at least for me. I would say cameras aswell, but I haven't really found any decent ones that are not just old plastic Polaroids and generic Kodak and Minolta cameras.

Generally, if I'm specifically trying to find books, I'll go to Half Price Books. I actually went looking through some of the books at my local charity shop the other day and was so disgusted at some of the titles that I actually don't want to go in there again. It was about something extremely dodgy and illegal and I can't believe anyone would even buy it in the first place. It really offended me.

  7. I've fallen down the stairs at school at least three times, was trying to get off my bed and tripped over my computer cord and flew into the wall, some idiot crashed into the passenger side of my dad's car and almost got my leg, I was working on a project and almost cut my finger off using those wood cutting machines. All in the last six years, haha.

Other than that, I've fallen on my back twice, almost went flying off something, and almost drowned.

  8. I particularly like the stuff he did with D12 (Purple Pills), Dr. Dre (Forgot About Dre) and The Way I Am, but the ultimate favorite will be his debut My Name Is.

I don't particularly mind them playing Oasis every single show, as long as they try and mix things up a bit. I'd love to hear Shakermaker, Stand by Me, All Around The World, and Sunday Morning Call, but we know that won't happen.
